2010 PSLE: EESIS (top 3%) and 3rd Lang (top 10%) COP
-
:? So we still don't know for sure what is COP for thire lauguage which is 10% of top PSLE this year?
Based on this cohort smaller population, I do expect COP for all schools will be lower than last year? would do you agree? -
ruohoo97:
T thot COP for top 10% is 250 as this gp is offered 3rd language in all 3 categories, including German, Japanese and French?:? So we still don't know for sure what is COP for thire lauguage which is 10% of top PSLE this year?

Ok.
Haha - i know personally lor. See with own eyes.jtoh:
Perhaps she was mistaken. But was the 248 figure from a single posting on the forum or several? I'm just wondering because sometimes numbers need to be verified.
-
phankao:
Well, eligible does not mean you will get it. It was mentioned in the s1 option form that if a 3rd language is over subscribed, they will base on PSLE result to allocate. Therefore they ask give you 3 options. If you only put 1 option and do not get it due to over subscribed and PSLE not too outstanding, you may get nothing for 3rd lang. But if you have put option 2 and 3, you may or may not get one of them and again as allocation is as on merit (T-score)
It is correct. Maybe your friend was mistaken.jtoh:
My friend's son scored 250 for PSLE last year and he wasn't offered French/Jap/German. I'm wondering if the top 10% COP of 248 for last year is correct. -
for the last few years of the PSLE result briefing of the school that I know, the presentation slide by the school principal always stated that Top 10% is 250 or higher. They always count how many managed to get 250 or higher.
so I don’t think the school is wrong based on MOE classification of 250 / top 10% -

So are you saying that COP for Top 10% is always set at 250 by MOE?for the last few years of the PSLE result briefing of the school that I know, the presentation slide by the school principal always stated that Top 10% is 250 or higher. They always count how many managed to get 250 or higher.

Found a post in the 2010 PSLE report here thread that says
"Friend’s dd got 249 +2. offered French/German/Jap… top 10%?"
Anyone has found a T-score lower than 249 that offers German/Jap/French? -
One of school principles i spoke to today thinks this year top 10% COP could be as low as 245.

Does EESIS offer to PR as well? My son got 261 and is not offered the EESIS.
ycpang:
Hi all,
Please share you DS/DD's T-score and whether he/she has the EESIS and 3rd Lang (French/ Jap/ German) options?
EESIS determines the top 3% of the cohort while 3rd Lang option is for top 10%. The COP T-scores for both can be used to \"calculate\" the COPs of schools especially top schools like RI/RGS/HCI/NYGH/DH etc.
Last year 2009 EESIS COP was 261. Top 10% COP was 248. If the EESIS COP gone up this year, we can expect the top schools' COPs to go up as well. -

From MOE website
The EESIS are awarded up to the top one-third of the total number of Secondary One pupils admitted to all Independent Schools (IS), based on their PSLE results.
The EESIS is also awarded to P6 GEP pupils who are Singapore Citizens and who
1.meet the P6 GEP promotion criteria, and
2.are enrolled in the IP in an Independent School at S1.
