.but Pei Hwa isn't a school which allows complete holiday...all fun and no work. When kids go back to school, they will suffer bcos their brains are still in 'holiday mode'...and this applies to me too.

I gear up 2 weeks before new school year starts by reading up the new textbooks, so I know what is going to be taught.

Actually I agree.. while I hope that the school will not bog them down with homework during holidays.. I still keep to the same routine as sch days so that DS doesn't lose his momentum.. if I give him a break totally, he will really dread school.. so I fill up his current 'homework' time with revision, word puzzles etc.. I think it's better for both parents n kids..

I'm glad you feel the same way too...kids cannot lose their momentum even when there is a holiday or they will dread going back to school. The brain has to continue to work or kids will forget everything when school reopens...they will suffer.

Yes. Both My Word Bank book and the Grammar Handbook were used for P1 and P2. No longer found in the P3 Booklist.

Are parents advised to buy the Grammar handbook by Marshall Cavendish to teach P1/2 ?

My dd's Grammar handbook and Word Bank book are published by Teachers Production. Both were listed in P1 and P2 booklists. Not sure whether the current P1s are using a different Grammar handbook.
I photocopied the entire 'My Grammar Handbook' for lower primary...useful and sufficient for P1/2s...visited the shop in Ghim Moh selling the range of Teachers' Production publications and ended up with the whole set of P1 stuff. Son has used 'Process Skills' by Teachers' Production (in booklists) for P3 and P4. Bought the P4 Science too, but don't find it useful nor close to exam questions asked ๐Ÿ˜ข
Has anyone recd notification from the sch on which class the child is posted to next year?

I went to get the school books for my dd the other day and pop into office to ask. They said the FT will call EVERY parents on the classes after 15th Dec.

Oh really? I was there on Thur. The admin advised that they were in the midst of sending out letter, by early next week, everyone should get it. Now...I am :?
The last time I met the FT (which was the last Fri of sch term), she told me the sch will send out letters. I checked the letterbox this evening, still no letter.

Yes, I can confirm that the P1 next yr are using these 2 books as well. They were happily chucked in one corner of the bookshelf at home collecting dust already. A sign of things to come.

I have bought the Grammar Handbook for upper primary as well. A pity the range of books by Teachers' Production are on the expensive side...no discount at all compared to Popular.

All the best to you markfch and other mummies who have kids going to P1 next year.

I just copied, pasted, changed a little formatting of the parents namelist on page 1.

Many thanks to E3 for her compilation.

Thanks Jennifer. Can you update the year to 2011 to reflect the year of the levels in which our kids will be in? TIA.
