      Child's answer for
      (b) A is a non-living thing while D is a living thing.
      (c) It needs air, food and water and it grows.

      Answer key for
      (b) A does not grow but D can grow.
      (c) C grows but does not move freely.

Both questions did not state, \"from the flow chart above\" in their question, so is it wrong to infer/conclude that A is a non-living thing and D is a living thing based on the flowchart? Or should all such questions be answered in accordance to what is stated in the flowchart?

        Hi

Q20 tells a student to study the flowchart below.

Therefore, one should derive the differences in characteristics from the given chart instead of relying on prior knowledge.

        Best wishes

When answering such above questions as in defining what is a living thing, is it mandatory to list down all characteristics of Living things to get full marks? If yes, should we also include clock cannot response to changes around them and clock cannot die?
          Hi

For a 1 mark question, I am of the opinion that the answer provided in the WS is sufficient.

          Best wishes

Hello....I need help to understand the concept and why the expected answer to the question for part (b) below.

This is how the question goes:

This is the given answer :
                http://postimage.org/image/2jfzm7tc4/

With reference to part (b), the answer seems to be just repeating what the graph is showing instead of explaining why organ S has the most amount of food digested. Is this the expectation in an answer for all such questions? ** Please help ****

                  Hi usaik

In PSLE Science, students learned that the digestive system comprises the:

                  -Mouth
                  -Gullet
                  -Stomach
                  -Small intestine
                  -Large intestine
                  -Anus

Digestion begins in the mouth. It is completed in the small intestine.

The question asks a student to explain why and one is expected to give the reason/cause on why something happened.

My suggestion is to keep within the syllabus. I think it’s good enough to explain that more digested juices are added in the small intestine and digestion is completed in the small intestine.

(My answer is based on information from the old edition of PSLE Science Guide, please refer to your current textbook/guidebook to see if more information is added)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

                  Best wishes

                    Hi Tianzhu,

Thank you so much for taking time to provide all the explanation. Looks like the answer key is not to be trusted fully.

MERRY XMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!!!

In my opinion, it’s rather difficult to score high marks in Section B (open-ended questions)…just wondering how I can help son to improve.

He does well in MCQ but teachers are very particular with answers in open-ended.

There was a question on Maglev train in P4 SA2 paper. The students were asked to state 2 advantages of using magnets used in Maglev train. Hubby & I read the answer given by teacher and just couldn’t understand it.

                        Hi Janet_lee88,

My son did badly for the open-ended qns too. I am still figuring out how to help him too. For a start, I am trying to figure out the questions and answers for myself.

Can you share the answers given by the teacher for the Maglev train question?
