Likewise, my DD got 260 and she is in RGS. So what if she just made it. Don't know if you love football but look at Tottenham Hotspurs right now, they barely made into the Champions League and now they have already beaten last year's European Champions.
It is all about passion and determination. :rahrah: -

My DS got 262, in HCI via dsa and now still waiting for appeal result to RI. Thus ignore what others say. Give thanks, stay focused and go for it. -
clueless1998,
260 is a very good score and you got into one of the top schools in Singapore. Don't worry about entering RGS at the COP. How well you did at PSLE is not indicative of how well you can perform in secondary school. I know personally of girls at RGS who entered at under the COP (thru DSA) and who are now doing VERY well. I also know of girls who scored 275+ at PSLE who are now not doing as expected at RGS. You'll be fine. Show your mum that you can do it.

Congratulations on getting such a good score!
Don't be discouraged.
Your mum is probably happy in her heart, but because of the competitive spirit of people, she only sees the -10 instead of the +260.
There's very little difference between 260 and 270, trust me.
In secondary school, hard work counts, and a 260 shows that you have the innate intelligence and the capacity for hard work.
Work hard, play hard and do meaningful things in your life.
The next time your mum mouths about the -10 again, tell her \"Ma, it's just -10. Life and school is still a long way to go. A 260 means I am the top 10% already. Don't compare with the Jones all the time\", and she may go like

Hi,
PSLE score is the score of only 1 exam. Last yr my son appealed and entered DHS. He might be among the lowest score in the school but thru he consistent work he was top 5 in his class beating the others who scored much higher than him in PSLE. So work hard and enjoy yr sch life and dun think negatively. Cheers -

It's encouraging to read this. I can imagine how proud you feel. At a open house the principal flashed to show their this year \"O\" level top 5 students. They also shown their PSLE t score, they are just barely at or after the COP.Hi,

That just goes on to show , how primary education system favors hard working but not so intelligent pupils. Of course you need basic intellience but the way maths in primary system works is on doing practice for endless hours. I had several encounters to support this.

1: Private maths tutor recounts that maths sums are done by recalling , if students have done such sum before & mechnically follow steps. If they have not done such sum before, it will be difficult to read & solve based on problem solving skills. How sad. You should build skills to solve complex problems rather than memorizing similar situation.
2: My dd's friend student tops in one of the not so popular priamry school in intial years . Her mother thought that she is not intellient type though!
3: Not allowing arithmatic way of solving maths. Now calculators are allowed which is good step forward, but this must be only education system where Arithmatic is not allowed in Maths ! It leaves students to do what i mentioned in point 1.
No wonder seconday results indicates above. I have example in my DD ( now in Sec2) where her sec 1 result is so encourging having entered school at cut-off.
Something must be changed at PSLE level -

Something must be changed at PSLE level
Why did you say Arithmatics is not allowed in PSLE Maths exam? My DS2 just finished PSLE this year. The entire maths paper was done using a lot of Arithmatics?
Or are you referring to Algebra vs Model method? Even though the kids are taught only simple Algebra at P6 and not taught simultaneous equations in the syllabus, but I understand from my DS2's maths teacher, they are allowed during PSLE exam. In fact, all mathematically sound methods are allowed. The only caution is that if a child uses simultaneous equation method to solve a problem sum and if he makes careless mistakes, he is not given method marks. That's my understanding. For those taking future PSLE exam, maybe worthwhile to confirm the understanding. -

Or are you referring to Algebra vs Model method? .
Sorry , i meant Algebra.. Two variable method like Assume X & y to form equ & solve. I understand you aare not allowed to use this ( Atleast my DD school teacher never allowed this & instructed to use Model methis)
