Hi! Im white_shimmer's brother. Just got in to RV. Hope can pass the audition cause if cannot need to join NCC. May I know what they will ask you to do at the audition? Do i need to prepare a song or what? Thanks in advance! šŸ˜‰

I am the one telling your sis to sell your singing talent. RV has no boy wanting to join choir usually in the first year and some boy with good voice will be \"forced\" to join in sec 2. You don't have to prepare for any song. Just go there and sing anything you like during the audition. They have not much choice with boys. Your sis said that you have a good voice, is it an overstatement?

Haha i dont really want to brag about it but i do have quite a good voice. Im really exited to go to RV! šŸ˜„ wonder how they teach chinese there.... :?
I have never heard of NSW maths and Science competition. Can you intro it abit? How many students in Singapore took part and how many score distinction etc...

For Chinese, some parents with children studying there can help.

That's why I give out on IP since my ds t-score 253+2 only qualify for RV , even though I drive to jurong everyday. Is for 6 year and not 6 days or 6 months.
We take it as a bonding time.
dd RV's teacher was once RV student. She said her father used to send her to school. He thought he has to do it for only 4 years but who knows he has to send her to RV again now and not sure for how long he needs to do it...lol

This competition is conducted yearly by University of New South Wales. Students can register to take any subjects they like. Ranking is by students within the same country. Top 1 % get High distinction and the next 9% get Distinction and so on.

Quite a few years ago, I have an opportunity to experience travelling from the west to Pasir Ris everyday for a month. I need to take bus, then switch to MRT, then switch back to bus again to reach the destination. The journey was 1hr 45 minutes-a total of 3.5 hours everyday. I am sure it is an extremely tiring experience, not to mention students who need to preapare for tests and exams. However, by taxi at around midnight, I could reach CCK from Pasir Ris in 20-25 minutes.

If you are hardworking and patience enough, go thru all pages of this thread, we discussed before about chinese in RV.

If you are good in singing, being a boy, quite high chance to get into choir. Thats just my opinion šŸ™‚

The form teacher told me that year 1 and 2 students are not streamed, so all the students are put at random in the classes. No difference between 1A or any other class.

During my child's time, A,B,C classes are top classes In terms of eg top 100 (just giving a random figure) mix into 3 classes. Those who appeal in were also mix into all classes. You stayed with the same class for 2 years. Looking at the exemption programe %, A and B claases have more students exempted compare to others.

Not so bad right? Just one expressway connecting, no need to change.
u mean from pasir ris to DHS ?? yup, can via ECP, easy route.
as for us, smooth traffic via ECP.

one added advantage is that DHS school starts at 8.00 a.m instead of the usual 7.30 a.m
and one of the day of the week, it starts at 9.00 a.m ......
(just a bit of info for those who is unaware of DHS sch timing).
Actually i like the timing of DHS 8am and 9am. I remember a parent raised up this timing before during the orientation when yr 1 parents met Miss Eek (the previous P), if RV can consider start later when move to Boon Lay. P commented its a bit difficult because Jurong is a big estate, we have to considee the start work timing of the workers, NTU students. RV timing cannot add further burden to the traffic and public transport.
