I am a 4-digit number.

The digit in the thousands place makes 5 when added to 2.
The digit in the hundreds place stands for 400.
The digit in the tens place is the same as the digit in the thousands place.
The digit in the ones place is the smallest possible digit.

What number am I?

Child's answer is 3431. Answer key is 3430.

Question 1: Is 'zero' consider a digit?

Question 2: Hypothetically, if the last statement is rephrase as 'The digit in the ones place has the smallest possible value', will it be 'one' or 'zero'?

Hello!

Yes, zero is a digit. It's a really really important digit! A digit is
anything that you can write down in your expression of a number in
regular notation. So since zero shows up in numbers like 307, and 10,
and even 0, zero is a digit.

2 u + 240 --> 180 x 2
2 u --> 120
1u --> 120/2 = 60

5 u --> 5 x 60 = $300

They had altogether $300 at first.

Harry Had 289 more stamps than Dominic.

When Dominic gave away 161 of his stamps, he had half of what Harry had.
How many stamps did Dominic have at the beginning?

statement 2. Harry/2= domi-169

statement 1- statement 2 ie

(Harry - Harry/2 )= (domi-domi) + (289 - -169)
1/2 Harry = 458
Harry = 916

Statement 1 - 916 = domi + 289
therefore 916 - 289 = domi
627 = domi
