      fromnuaa:
my home is quite near to compassvale LRT, haha

taking bus 190 at dhoby ghaut mrt has some issues:
      1. if it is raining day, umbrella is needed.
      2. need cross the road to catch bus
      3. it takes 4 minutes to arrive the bus stop

which bus you take to compass point? why not LRT?
haha. My mom insisted. The bus stop is right downstairs my house. The one which leads to the expressway, along punggol road.

      1. there's no need to cross the road.
      2. there are 4 buses i can take. 83, 965, 161 to compass. 27 to buangkok.
      3. i only take LRT when i need to reach school super early (abt 6.30), coz the timing is alot more consistent.

About the raining issue, PLEASE PLEASE bring an umbrella no matter what. Because it's terrible if it rains when you're going home. You can always 'air dry' your umbrella in school if it rains in the morning, dont worry, it's a too common sight in RGS.

Another suggestion for you. If it rains too heavily and your child is too lazy and sian to walk in the rain to the opp bus stop.
Normally i'll take 105 to serangoon and change to either 82 or mrt home. but it takes about 1hr++.
Another way is to take whichever bus from school to RTC, change to another bus (i forgot the number, can check at the bus stop) to bishan, then change mrt here and there back home. it's just troublesome.
Or you can wait for the rain to stop and do homework in school šŸ™‚

      fromnuaa:
yes, at clarke quay mrt station, no need worry raining day and crossing road, and the bus stop is near to the station exit.

but i am not sure how long time to reach RGS from larke quay by taking bus 190...
5 stops from clarke quay to dhoby, total 11 stops to RGS.

Timing i'd say depends on the traffic.

i dont really know the exact timing coz i never tried taking from clarke quay early in the morning.

I'm being very skeptical here k.
4min to walk up to bus stop from dhoby.
It's about the same as 2min mrt from dhoby to clarke quay, then MAYBE another 2min to walk up to bus stop + the bus may have left the clarke quay bus stop already. so yeah.... ><....

I think you should try it out during the first week coz you dont get booked for being late šŸ™‚ << wrong example here, but yeah, trying out is more convincing.

      Hope this helps. heh. šŸ™‚

                hi toddles,

do you have any idea about RGS so-called gep and non-gep class? i heard that class 109(or 110)-113 are gep classes.

Since 2 years ago, there is no more GEP and non-GEP class. Everyone in RGS goes through the same Raffles Programme which is a school based gifted programme. I think this is a good move, IMHO, to help curtail elitism.

From 2011 class list, most GEP pupils and those high PSLE t-score pupils are put in class 110-113. I don't know why my daughter is put in class 104... BTW, my daughter is appealed to RGS from NYGH..

You should be thankful that yr appeal was successful.

Anyway, when she reaches RI, class posting is strictly base on her yr4 gpa. That's no such thing as gep classes at senior high.

This morning when I come to RGS, I find that my daughter has been re-placed into class 112 (so-called GEP class).

                        RGS, you are great!
