Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
-
Hi Mrs Ang,
Some schools with affiliated sec do not accept PVs prior registration. Understand SCGS started accepting this year.
As for PV application, I sent in to the school in Jan of the year my son turned 5…but now parents have to go to the school to fill in form personally…again, we have no idea what schools want their PVs to do every year. Oh yes, schools are requiring PVs to do longer hours. 40 hours for some popular schools are a thing of the past. -
Hi Mrs Ang,
Just realized I made a mistake here.
I wrote in to the school in Jan which my son turned 4 to be PV.
Be prepared to do longer hours though. -

I think you can make your call in Phase 2C. Monitor both Nanhua and Qifa and see how the numbers rack up. If the situation at Nanhua looks dismal, then go for Qifa. If you think there's a good chance, go for Nanhua.Hi all,
I am new in posting to the forum although i have been an observer for quite a while. Need the opinions of parents here.
My DS is registering in 2011
Option 1 - Nan Hua ( within 1 km ) - Had applied for PV way back in 2009 but rejected .
Option 2 - Qifa ( 100m away ! )
Had always wanted to try to ballot for Nanhua under phase 2C but typical percentage is 230/100. Initially thought that if Nan Hua couldn't get in will put him in Qifa ( I thought sure will have space in phase 2C Supp ) But alas last year for the 1st time there is balloting for 1-2KM even in pahase 2C hence no vacancy in Phase 2C Supp already !!
Should i try for nan hua and hope that this year Qifa will still have space for Phase 2C Supp if DS not balloted for Phase 2C ? or should I simply just go for Qifa as it is literally at my door step only and i think sure can get in if within 1KM?
I still have DS 2 and DD3 to think of..
Both me and my hubby pri sch no longer in existence...
Thanks for your opinion and advise.
Did you know that if you and your DH's schools are no longer in existence, they may have merged with other schools and you would be eligible to register in those schools. See if you can find your old school in this list: http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/prime/list-of-schools/ -
i would recommend to go for Nan Hua.

Looks like I am the odd one here. I would go for Qifa. -

Was there a year when Qifa produced a top PSLE student ? I remember she is a China national and 13 years old.wanderlust-alm:

well, my nephew was in Qifa (P6 last year) and my brother in law decided to sent his younger son to another school…

Thanks all parents for your suggestions and opinions. : )
We will monitor the situation and station at both qifa and Nan Hua. My feel at the moment is We may still give Nan Hua a try. Maybe my son will be lucky
I may look for alternative back up as i am also within 2km of Fu Hua ( Jurong East School ) and Pei Tong ( Clementi ) These 2 schools historically still have plenty of spaces in phase 2C supp. Any parents have feedback on these 2 schools ?
Many Thanks in advance.
