HI E3,

There is a compulsory modular CCA every year. P3 was swimming, P4 was table tennis during school curriculum. This year, I've yet to sign any forms.

Same here, no mentioning of the swimming classes yet. Can you remember which term was it usually conducted? Will it be conducted in the same term across all levels?

Term 3, that is the term without any CA or SA.
Either Clementi or Bukit Batok swimming pool...all the P3 classes.
P3 kids will be split into 2 groups, first half to Bukit Batok, the other group to Clementi. 4 lessons straight during school hours.
Hi Janet, so it's confirmed that Pri3 has swimming lessons? But it's good if it's during school hours, so their afternoon schedules will not be disrupted.. πŸ˜„

Eh, I thought I read somewhere (can't remember if it's the handbook) that for Pri 3 this year it would be Table Tennis for first semester and 2nd semester basketball? :?
Maybe there is a change then.
What I like is the CCA is conducted during school hours...although lessons are affected, the kids do not have to stay back...but do give them more time to rest as it can be very tiring.

Tuesdays 8 - 9:30am will be for classes Rby 7,8,9. Is that the one you are referring too? However, nothing was stated what CCA could be conducted during those 90mins.

If your ds shows flair in table tennis, he gets more playtime during training. If not, be prepared that he has to 坐冷板凳, only \"eye\" exercises (perhaps \"mouth\" exercises as well - can talk to those in the same fate) while the rest of them played. Most of them will be sidelined. This is a common scenario cos many P1 boys will select Table-tennis as CCA since choices are limited, thus the resources might not be adequate as well.

Huh?!? I hope not.. afterall we are paying so much for it!! I was tellin DH I would never pay for a coach with such a high student teacher ratio loh.. 1:80!! wat kinda attention can they get?! but like Markfch said... really not much choices.. DS' alternative was athletics, but the timing is not suitable for us.. so no choice loh.. the school said it was a one-time payment for only new sign-ups.. so we just signed him up for table tennis.. I'm hoping that he can learn n then play with his daddy on weekends for bonding.. πŸ™

Mrsbongz, your ds has the upperhand since your DH plays! He can train on weekends. Quick, markfch, send your ds over for extra lessons, so your boys won't blend...into the background. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
when my dd was in p1, she got CCA of table tennis, just like what E3 told...the exercises has its limits. after the first half year, she quit.

She even went for the additional Saturday training at Clementi. But the training was good though, cos she is now able to play relatively well and even plays with DH at home every other day. DH was table tennis school player during his school days....

Last week. 3 days of the week. 2 hours (3 hours if you include transport and changing). Entire cohort went to Bt Batok Swimming complex. Frankly, I did not think crash course like this achieve anything. When mine was with BTPS, they did it in P2, 1 hr /week for 10 weeks. That was a better arrangement, IMO.

Oh ya, I brought mine home for 2 of the 3 days, straight from the swimming complex. πŸ˜‰

She also did table tennis as a modular cca in P3 either 1st or 2nd term too. If I did not remember wrongly, after SA2, we filled up a form to make choices (2/3 or 4) for some sports too. Cannot remember if its modular cca or sport week. She opted for soccer and netball (or something.. :? ).
