Both my kids got their chickenpox injections…yours truly also.

Son was 5 years old and daughter 18 months then. Son got it last year…started with few red dots on his neck, brought him to see doctor and was given anti-viral medication…then daughter got it and spread to me. We didn’t suffer any itch.
Finally hubby got and it was a terrible outbreak for him…his whole face and body jelak jelak. It was very scary to see him.

Did you get the chickenpox injection for yourself also?

Hi,Mummies, Just to share, recently,I brought my girl (3 years plus) for her pneummocal vaccaination..been putting off for years as I wonder if it is really necessary, yet whenever she fell sick, there is this niggling doubt that it could be more serious than the common cold/flu... Sigh,in the end, finally decided to get a peace of mind and scheduled for her jab at the local polyclinic... As per normal, the nurse gave me a list which listed all the side effects, which included swelling of the injection area and loss of appetite....Few hours after the injection,my ger complained of sharp pain around the injection site, which was by then an angry red bump and the surrounding area was sensitive to touch...I had to apply cold compress for two days before the swelling went down..

Needless to say,her appetite was also greatly affected...
anyway, just to let mummies be more aware of the side effects ...
Wonder if any mum experience this too?

Nope, I don't coz I brought my DD1 to take the jab when she was 18mths. My DS2 has finished 2 jabs and waiting for him to turn 18mths to take the last jab. I think it is best for them to take when they are still small. Will not have too many side-effects?

                  Sorry for late reply.
I was told there might be mild case of rashes after the chickenpox jab but fortunately both of them didn't have this prob.

                    Hi Parents,

Kids are getting their jabs in P5 instead of P6 now…reason was bcos of any possible side-effects. So better to get it in P5 instead.

My son had his 3rd booster jab as well as oral sabine for Polio and MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) 2 weeks ago in school. Told to expect rashes 5-12 days after jabs. Son had rashes on his back on the 10th day.
Gave him Zyrtec and applied Tree Tee oil for the itch.

                      Hi Hi,

Now that my boy, hubby and me has gone through the pox, I can say that I got it the worst, flared up all over my face and neck, very scary to see and touch too! :!:

I got it first and didn't know what it was hence left it until almost 3rd day flared up from body right up to neck and face already then went to see the doctor. Took the anti-viral medication which should have been taken earlier ie. the minute you saw some pox must quickly run to the doctor to take the anti-viral!

For my boy, after the chicken pox immunisation still kerna and got quite a lot of pox all over his body. The PD gave him about one week of anti-viral to take too but still looks like quite a lot of pox flared up. Good thing not many on his face!

My hubby seems to have the easiest time. He had a jab one week after I kerna my pox as he didn't want to catch it. But he got it anyway and went to see the doc. for anti-viral almost straight-away. So his did not flared up too much and subside quite quickly as well. Still got the itch though hence need to put calamine lotion all over.

I seems to be having some skin rashes and itch terribly after the pox. Now I have taken to put Sea Salt boddy rub on my skin. Ouch! Sting terribly! But very good in controlling the itch and healing the skin. I tried to put some on my boy today and he screamed in pain - poor thing! But I think it is better than to keep putting those steriod cream and also does not seem to help the itch much!
                      :celebrate:
