Some thinks that they will get bored, but another way of looking at it .. they are doing 2nd round revision when the teacher are teaching.

DS is quite familar with HYPY cos well trained by Berries & kindy PRC teacher. So he always complains that he finds HCL lessons boring. In his own words he said: 'I find chinese boring but I pretend to be interested so that teacher will not scold me.' Haha, 6 yrs old knows how to pretend already.
Hmm, wonder if he does the same acting in front of me? :?

My son tells me he keeps quiet in class so that his teachers won't complain about him and praise him for being a 'model student'. But yaks non-stop the moment he reaches home. He can even tell me that his teachers find him a 'good boy'. OMG.

She told me last night that she doesn't like reading anything in Mandarin at all :!:[/quote]my dd is resist to learn CL, she can read EL book in 2h, but cannot read CL book for 10mins. when i read CL book to her, and try to express in funny tone, but she is still make her yawn...
for her science and english, i cannot involve in even a little bit...so the new or old syllabus, i dont have any concept. what i can do, is try to chasing her to learn more in advance for any subjects. my idea is, when she is in p6 whole year, let she do psle exam papers over and over and over again.

I'm not sure if this is reflective of MOE teachers in general but I always feel that PH female teachers have a typical strait laced look. I had this impression when I was doing PV and even now as I picked ds up daily from sch the same impression continued.
I wonder if this is because nowadays kids are harder to manage and only a non-nonsense appearance will help to control them? :? . Btw, this is just an observation, not a complaint hor ..... in case there're any teachers reading this post.

Oh...have you seen teachers from some neighbourhood schools? PH's teachers would have appeared friendly compared to them. Complaint from my dd's friends' parents is you don't see any of their dds' teachers smiling even once, not even during PTM.

Writing is a form of application from the books you have read. When you write, you apply the rules and develop a unique style of writing. By reading a particular piece of writing, you'll know the standard of the writer's language. If it is a well-written piece, that will mean the writer is at ease with that particular language. Memorizing model essays won't work for long. Soon, the child will be put in a situation that he/she needs to apply creatively, and intrinsically. Ideas for writing stories should emerge from within so that it is a true and justified piece of work. It takes a lot of patience and practices. Even renowned authors have many drafts and scripts.

I thought PH teachers are very nice and friendly. Even P is very friendly

My aunt is an English teacher in one of the SAP schools in Singapore and gosh, you should have seen her looks! Even kids I know studying there complained about her arrogance. One of my uncles is a P too, and he is rather boastful by nature Oh yes, my cousin-in-law's wife, English HOD, also has THAT arrogant look.

But of course not all are such. I know of some very nice and humble Ps and MOE Superintendents who are just so wonderful people...

So in comparison, PH's P and teachers are indeed very nice
