speed is also another factor. Maths papers are timed for the selection test.

Ermm...aren't all exams timed? Do you mean that to say that the time is very short, but they have to attempt many, many questions?

Sorry, I should be clearer on this. For Maths papers, the respective sections were timed individually. If one finished Section A earlier, he/she cannot use that left over time to attempt Section B.

ICAS stands for International Competitions and Assessments for Schools by UNSW Australia. For English, Maths and Science. Parents will get a letter to sign up (optional with a fee).

What does ICAS stand for? I googled and came up with Immigration & Customs Authority of Singapore. :scratchhead:

International Competitions and Assessments for Schools. Our local schools conduct Math and Science competitions from University of New South Wales for P4s onwards. Most kids from top classes will participate in these competitions and they could win certificates of High Distinction, Distinction, Merit or Credit.

                  comfy:
Personally I feel that P did not really 'train' PHPPS for GEP. If she did, I believed more students would be selected. I found out that NYPS starts so called 'GEP' training in P3. Some selected P3 students are put into 'GEP' prog & the class size is keep small about 25 unlike PHPPS expand to 40+ for top classes., so you see, they can achieve to have 50 selected gep stds.

yes, i heard few top schools have their own Gep training class. anyway, for trained or un-trained Gep, it is not only measuring step. at least they are really work hard (no matter which way, whether at home or at school, or class, enrichment center...), enough. The proverb said well, Man proposes, God disposes ( 谋事在人 成事在天).
Your destination may not be your destiny; but your destiny must come from your destination.
