My friend DD get in to NYPS by P2B Grassroots. She was staying at Yew Tee. Chances is the same. Grassroots and PV will be in P2Bany parents here who do rc work, and manage to enter NYPS ?
bec i heard rc stands higher chance compared to pv, pv doesnt guarantee in the event supply > demand, hence ballot which depends on luck.
any idea for each year Pri 1 entry, roughly how many places are allocated for rc ? -
dear mummy of 3,
are you Zoe Tay ?
whether yes or no – first, let me greet you and all parents here …… a wonderful blessed, new 2011 to you & your entire family !
may I know … what is the definition of “Chances same” ?
each year Pri 1 registration under phase 2B, a certain percentage or certain number of seats is being set aside, to those who apply under rc category.
difference between rc and pv is - rc volunteer for 3 years of hard work (correct me if I’m wrong), whereas pv clock 80 hrs.
i)\tpossible scenario 1
in the event demand exceeds supply under rc category in that year, qn is - got balloting for rc ?
if got balloting for rc, means some rc cannot get in, means end up they do past 3 yrs rc work for nothing.
if no balloting, means all rc enter.
means rc “eats” into whatever remaining places left for pv, since rc got higher priority over pv ?
then become the other way round …. end up some pv parents after clocking 80 hrs still cannot enter, very frustrating !
ii)\tpossible scenario 2
in the event supply exceeds demand under rc category for that year, means whatever remaining vacant seats left behind by rc - will these be released over to pv side, or just let the empty seats left unfilled ? -

Is that true? :?each year Pri 1 registration under phase 2B, a certain percentage or certain number of seats is being set aside, to those who apply under rc category.

Not true. Everyone in 2B stands equal chance. If demand is > places available, then balloting is required.

Hi there!
my info may not be 100% accurate as in things may change over timeverykiasu2010:
hello verykiasu2010,
curious ... are you in parent support group at NYPS, or ex teacher here before ?
how come you know so much about the in & out in this school, so detailed ?
\"knowledge\" comes from being kaypoh.....having put my kids through the school as well as still in contact with parents whose kids are still in school, some teachers have become friends too ....
My son will be registering this year for P1 in 2012 in Phase 2C. I am living within 1km of NYPS. My husband and I are all nerves right now and trying to make sense of the overwhelming info. Can you advise based on last/past year's data what number of vacancies are available and what the TUR is for those within and out of 1km?
Phase 2C within 1km ... I would say chances are good to be able to get in. But with a large majority of the years, there is balloting required. I don't have the figures with me right now but if you were to head down to the school's website, there should be some history about the balloting. As I recalling, Phase 2C within 1km ... balloting is required but the numbers are rather close i.e. 55 applicants for 50 places - that kind of stats. -

I was put through the balloting process during registration, so I understand the anxiety. In the end, I'm just thankful that we got in.

Hi
For last year, the school balloting was scary almost or less 50% chances for phase 2C.
The principal did mention that is getting harder each year to get into Nanyang Primary. Better mentally prepare if you want to try Nanyang Primary for phase 2B and phase 2C. -

Apologies. My information not updated. My stats were from previous years.
