WHAT IS YOUR EXERCISE REGIME?
-
mummyjoyce:
AGREE!HI,
I want to add that I started jogging 2 years ago - I started jogging slowly and walking at times covering 1-2 km only. After that I started to extend the distance... and jog faster. It takes time to reach the timing and distance and there is no need to rush.
I want all mummies to know that it is possible to schedule time for excerise. AND THE RESULT : Slimmer/Toner, Happpier and Prettier Mummies!
And i started same way, with 2-3 times a week hitting the gym.
buds hubs motivated me a lot, to stay healthy.. also gave more
stamina... ... Now trying to overcome the school holiday period
when both monsters are home. Hope not to gain too much, so by
the time school re-open... back to running + gym again. (Usually
go when kiddies are in school)
mummyjoyce, you'll be my number 2 inspiration aft buds hubs with
your 8 to 10 clicks upgrade.. with your age... i'm looking up to you, sista.

I also need and want to start regular exercise. So far, through dieting and 4km walks 5x a week, I’ve managed to lose 5 kg over a year, but I know I really need to do proper exercise.
Posting here to pressure myself to start! -
mummyjoyce:
Hi mummyjoyce, Firstly I wanna congratulate you for being healthy & fitI want to excerise to keep fit and also to fall sick less so that I can spend all my times fully with my family and concentrate on my work.
I have noticed that I am more alert at work after excerise and my hubby and kids noticed my determination - there is no such things as too tired or no time for excerise (maybe not the right time of the day sometimes).
through regular exercise. Your reason for doing so should be an
inspiration for the others to follow.. My hats off to you. :celebrate:
Secondly, I agree with you that with regular exercise, you would be
more alert and energetic. Somehow, it gives you that EXTRA boost.
Just remember to hydrate yourself sufficiently if you plan to exercise at \"WRONG\" times of the day.
It would be good if you can avoid doing afternoon runs between 11am
to 4pm if possible..

I totally agree with you that everyone should start somewhere.I started jogging 2 years ago - I started jogging slowly and walking at times covering 1-2 km only. You dont have to aim very far. Just fix a comfortable distance ie: 1km -
3km.. Start by doing walks to aim to complete the distance and there is
NO RUSH.
Once you are comfortable with the distance, you can start with slow
walk-jog and progress further by going faster. Afterwhich, you may
want to extend the distance bit by bit ie: 400m - 1000m.
The important thing is to built your stamina and to get your heart
pumping continously for 20 - 30 mins as our body only starts to burn fat around this period.
There are a lot of other variations of exercise which you can combine
with your runs but maybe that would be shared a little later. -

Bro Sashimi, heard a lot about you from DW but I guess this wouldI also need and want to start regular exercise. So far, through dieting and 4km walks 5x a week, I've managed to lose 5 kg over a year, but I know I really need to do proper exercise.

be the first time we chat in this forum..
Anyway, its good that you plan to \"pressure\" yourself to start exercising.
All of us here can help you if you want..
I personally feel that \"men\" take a longer time to loose weight as
compared to women. So its already an achievement for your to lose
5kg in one year. :salute:
But as you mentioned, if you plan to do more, you would have to switch
those 4km walks into 4km jogs . If you are already comfortable with the
distance, you can probably start by doing slow jogs and aim to complete
at least the 1st km (2km if you have better endurance) and walking the
rest.
Alternatively, you can just start with a continous slow jog set at 20 mins.
Do not bother about the distance you have covered during that time as
some people find that setting a fixed distance is rather demotivating but
see the time factor as a more realistic \"aim\"...
Try to reach that aim and you can extend the time by 5 -10 mins once
you are more comfortable. -
My weekly routine - fri yoga wed climb stairs of 25 storey block 4 times. Monday either bukit timah hill or gym or skate or cycle or jog at east coast. I need variety else i get bored. Plus weights, resistance tube and ab crunches 3 times a week. If you’re short of time , go climb stairs for a change. But use the lift down. Less impact on your knees. Anyone keen to join me at the vertical marathon this year? i’m not showing off just hope to encourage more of you to take up exercise. There’s more to exercise than walking and running. I snack too much so have to exercise to make up for it. Occassionally i feel lazy and slack too.

Hi,
Exercise Regime (FLASH BACK 2005)
1) Walk (2km) to the Gym.
2) 10KM run, 1 HR at the cross trainer
3) 1Hr weight traning
All are done 4 times a week.
Broke my knee in 2006, when for ACL operation. Did physiotherapy for 4 months, but had phobia for running and skipping. Laid off for 2 yrs. Did not put on weight, but became flabby.
PRESENT DAY
Started exercising 3mths back again, Try to psycho myself \"NO PAIN NO GAIN\" and also to be healthy to take care of the family.
1) Going to the Gym 4 times a week ( 1 Hr of Brisk walking with lightweights and 1 Hr of weight training
2) 2 times a week brisk walk (5km) near the park.
Hope this time I will take care of my knee :xedfingers: , and carry on with my activity.
I have enjoyed excercising, its all about health and I feel good when I could fit into my favourite cloths.HEEEEEE -

Disagree, women seems to lose faster in the 1st 5 kg, which is mostly water weight lost. Men tend to lose easier, cos men generally has stronger core muscle and also larger muscle groups.
It took me only 3 months to lose my 1st 5 kg, but when I checked for body fat there was hardly any changes. When DH lost 5 kg in 5 months (just by changing his diet), he has lost a 2% body fat. It was only losing more than 8kg b4 there was a change in my body fat percentage.
I guess that why theres a saying that 女人是水做 (female is made of water). -
MLR:
If you're talking about body fat percentage associated with weight loss.. then i guess you're right as men do have bigger core muscles then women. Thats why after a certain amount of weight loss, men are unable to bring down their weight any lower..

Hmmm.. I dunno about the saying 女人是水做 but I think there may be some truth in it...
Maybe thats why women cry more than men?? (Just kidding hor)
