I think crying or comparing is better than they bo cha. That’s show that they have the desire to improve.
I'm relieved my son has matured esp this year...at least I can spend more time getting my daugher 上轨. The best part, is son is shaking his head when I coach daughter in her work...her very behaviour was just like him back in P1 then. HaHaHa.
Yes, our roles have indeed changed...although we sit in the same room, most of the time my attention is on younger child in P1 but what my son wants is my presence. I always tell my son, his effort is all I want...人比人,气死人. Just this morn, he told me a boy who always misbehaves in class is always getting 90+ for his 听写 and worksheets. Advised him not to compare but work on his carelessness and remember to be careful.janet_lee88:
yes Janet, I totally agree.
Have reassured her that it's her attitude and effort that matter most to me. I'll give her whatever support she needs provided she herself keeps a positive attitude. -

:rotflmao: This is a good sign. I remember my sister in law did mention that her son was absorbing better when he moved to P6. At such, his Maths had improved from 50++ to near to 80 when he reached P6. Finally he got an A in PSLE. -

He shook his head and kept calling her back to the room, 'mei mei, come and sit down. Mummy is teaching you'. I don't know to laugh or to cry that my son is maturing.janet_lee88:

He is behaving as a big brother by showing a good example to his sister. I'm happy for you as our burden can be lighten once the child is getting mature. :celebrate: -

Yes, I'm happy my son is becoming more of a big brother. At least he can help if I'm busy with housework.janet_lee88:

Ds also knocked-out by 8-ish. He needs 10hrs sleep to function well.
We just do whatever we can, no point to compromise on health.
Usually exam days we will just R&R so this week and next week are all we have for CA1 prep. -

Slowly adjusting. The secondary school life is no joke.Hi Peony,
I just talked to hubby yesterday regarding son's school work...as long as we see effort put in for his CA1, we shouldn't press him to score esp since he needs adjustment to a new school term.
Pixiedust,
Science is so vast and topics can be anything at this point. Just have to get him to revise his P3/4 stuff eg properties of living/non-living things.
Mock paper most prob will be given this week according to his teacher.
Don't worry, I'm grumbling about everything related to his school work
livewith_vanilla,
Thanks for your valuable advice.
Have you adjusted to life in Sec 1 ?
Mummies,
We have moved on to be MOTIVATORS instead of disciplinary masters. It's REAL school now for our P5 kids but we have to press on bcos this is just the beginning of more knocks to come. -
Hi livewith_vanilla,
I just heard from a lady whose daughter is in Sec 1…very busy. My cousin’s son in Sec 1 also busy & tired from almost full day school.
Hi pixiedust,
He is ‘matured’ only at home when there are no toys…once he sees them, he is just like a P1 kids. To expect him to be mature in thinking, I think I will have to wait till secondary school…in the meantime, I will still have to scold, nag and motivate. -

My nephew in Sec 1 is also the same. His CCA has taken up three days, two in week day and one in Saturday morning. Sunday is the only day can have a longer hour sleep.

Before I forget, can I check with you if it's worthwhile getting Weekly English/Maths for P6 pls ?
