During my interview with my new maid (trf maid-who has finished 2 yr con) i did specify to her that we will keep her hp, and will pass it to her when we come back from work and she will pass it to us b4 she sleep. She is fine with this arrangement.
I allow such arrangement, 'cos some friends told me maid also need freedom and need someone to talk to.
my ex-maid, flutting with guys, visit toilet more often than us, day dreaming, smiling in the air.
ta bu la tahan… think buttom line, they dont give us trouble and do their jobs we shld close 1 eye -

verykiasu2010, thanks for the info. Have you done this before? Easy?
yes you canlaughingcat:
Throwing a question....
Anybody ever heard or tried getting Indo maids/helper without going through the agency? :?
go MOM online to apply for approval-in-principle, must have the maid passport details, etc and once in SG, must comply with medical etc ... -

My current Indonesia is quite good. Not the vain type and no problem with housework and my kid as she is ex-Singapore. Unike you guys, I don’t have problem with her on hp issues because no hp allowed from Day 1. The only grouse is She is very religious!!! Once I allow her to pray, she actually put on the headdress and pray 5 times a day!! Sometimes, she even wakes up at 1am just to pray. The next day she wakes up at 6am to pray without fail!! That’s why I realise she always don’t have enough sleep.
I lecture her for waking up at 1am to pray because I don’t like to see a sleepy face. The neighbours might think I m keeping her at night to do housework!!! She finally agreed to cutting out the 1am praying session.
Anyone has any such praying issues with their maid? Pls share with me.
Sigh! I just realised if this maid is good in this area but bad in other area. My previous maid was bad in this area and good in other area.
IF the maid’s salary really goes up and up, I’ll probably hire part time maid to cook for me. At least she won’t need to stay with me. -
Agree 100%! Let her go.
It;s risky since u r working. U dont know what might happen when you are away at work and your boy is in her hands.
Do the letting go with care too. ie dont give advance notice. I have been lucky with maids ie never change maid before ctract’s up and even renewed a few times with the last one. So this is according to what I hear. ie once you made your mind to let go your maid, dont tell her in advance. Just let her pack on the spot and bring her back to the agency. Dont take chances. And check the bags. -
Oh boy!! That’s scary! Love bites!! I will let her go at once but of course it still depends on whether you can find a replacement fast. We all know that nowadays its very difficult to get a maid due to the huge demand and lack of supply. Lack of support at home can really be frustrating!!

Hi All,
Just went maid agencies shopping around. Heard that now for new Tagalog & Indon Maids their starting salary would be $400 without off days, $380 with off days. These would be fresh new maid. Agency fees would depend which can range from $299 onwards.
Another information is that it may come very soon that maid loan would be reduce to 2 months where the agency fee would shot up rocket high. Those who intend to get new maid better act fast. :celebrate: -
Thanks everyone. Appreciate your kind responses…
I just told my DH my plan to change her, we got insurance on the bond so no worries of losing money there.
As for the loan, yes, we have 1 more month to go. just checked, alot of Indo maids are running away and trying to get rehired for higher pay! peapot, you are right, hard to get good ones, my mum says they are mostly the same, all liers. - its a good thing my mum stays with me so at least we have someone there most of the time. I will start looking for a replacement. If i were to go back to the same agency, I can request for someone new, not ex singapore? -
dear all, thanks for all of your replies and information.
before i got my maid one of our friends advised us to give the cash allowance to her so she buys her own consumables, so if she has some leftover it can be her pocket money. (cos i think the maid is quite poor that they don't have salary for 6 months and carrying no money all the time...) now i guess i better cut the cash allowance and keep check on her usage...
talking about phone card and phone handling, haha, my maid doesn't have one (yet), and she doesn't need to use our phone to IDD back to phillipine. instead, on her 2nd day of arrival, she asked my hubby to set up the internet connection on her own laptop!!! wow!!! :!: i'm not bias or looking down or whatever!!! from my previous maid hiring experience and my friends talking about their maids, none of them brought their own laptop to work. but yes, she appears very happy that every night she can msn/skype her hubby and daughter. and we are kind of resting early family, so basically after 9pm i don't care about what she does inside her room. -
She brought her own laptop! Wow!
