for you, GEP comes first la.....

        Ya for Lizhi
Not for me, GEP is not on my mind. I recalled during my elder dd's time, we forgot abt the gep test, my dd went, came back and only a few weeks later den we recalled and checked with her how was it. very LF then hor.
Anyway, our expectation is just reasonable, slightly above average PSLE result is gd enough as learning is such a lifelong process.

GEP, depend on talented, we can try to develop children's precious gifts...but it is difference with PSLE. anw, JIAYOU! JIAYOU together! πŸ˜„

A challenging Math Question of my dd's HW yesterday:

a+b+c=c+d+e=e+f+g=g+h+i, only can use 1-9 and not repeat a number.
          ...
          find two answers,
          a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i = 7,6,1,5,8,4,2,9,3
          a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i = 9,3,1,8,4,7,2,5,6
          any other possible answers?
Actually the question goes something like this: Using digits 1 to 9, fill in the 9 squares such that each set of 3 digits adds up the same number, i.e. a+b+c =c+d+e=e+f+g=g+h+i.

          There is a pattern.
          My dd's answer is 1 9 4 8 2 7 5 6 3

          Pattern: Fill in 1 2 3 at the corners (a, e, i), then 4 5 at the other corners (c, g), then remaining 6 7 8 9 (h, f, d, b).

          We did another one: 9 3 2 4 8 5 1 6 7,
          Same pattern: Fill in 9 8 7 at the corners, then 1 2 at the other corners, then 3 4 5 6.

          and another answer: 9 1 6 2 8 3 5 4 7
          Same pattern: Fill in 9 8 7 at the corners, then 5 6 at the other corners, then 1 2 3 4.

Based on your 1st answer: 7,6,1,5,8,4,2,3,9 ( I switched your last two numbers)
          Pattern: Fill in 7 8 9 at the corners, then 1 2 at the other corners, then 3 4 5 6.

Now, try it for your second answer: 9,3,1,8,4,7,2,5,6
starting with 3 4 and 5 at the corners ( notice that 3 4 5 are in your sets?).

Wow, this looks Greek to me. I asked DD if she has done it, and she told me she has done it. I just checked her file and her answer was :
              9,3,1,8,4,7,2,6,5
Hmm, first time I'm seeing this question, coz she never asked me how to do it. :?

By the way, are we talking about the same question from page 24 of My Pals? πŸ˜‰

I told him of our alternative answer and asked him how he managed to come out with his so quickly. He had already tried using a pattern for his answer, applied it on our answer, then confirmed that this pattern worked and tried it out on a few more combinations. Math is fun. πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„
