Hi, DS is 21 months and has not attended any playgroup or enrichment classes. Besides kindermusik and zoo phonics (too far for me) i wonder what class can i send DS to ? I dont mind if it is mandarin or english, I just want him to have some playmates and fun. What should i start with ? S&D ? phonics ? Playgroup around my area only takes in 2007 babies next year so i have a long wait to go. many thanks !

My dd1 used to be very shy when she was 3 years old. However, after attending speech and drama at Julia Gabriel for 2 years, she has become a loud, boisterous and vocal preschooler. haha she is a major drama queen too. I'm planning to send my dd2 there soon...

I personally prefer Act 3 to JG playclub or Edudrama programs, if you are really looking for a speech & drama program as opposed to English enrichment. The lessons at Act 3 focus on Drama aspects while JG seems more academic. Plus I do not like all the free-play stuff that they do over in JG… waste of time, they might as well just made the lessons shorter by 15 minutes! At the end of the term in Act 3, parents also get to watch some performances that showcase what their kids learnt during the course of the term. I’ll definitely send my son there when he turns 3 next year.

I sent my girls to Act 3 since they were 3 1/2. In the first term they were crying into class and also don’t want to participate at the term-end mini-class performance. This year we are see great improvements. They not only enjoy their classes, but also clearly show that they do not have stage-fright.
I haven’t tried attending other S&D except for Kindermusik when they were younger. I kind of like the way Act3 sets the syllabus. Clear objectives of each term is lay out and a copy given to parents. Content of each of the 8 classes in the term is also displayed.
Only complaint is that being tucked at a corner in Cairnhill with little parking space, driving there can be an headache.
So to make full use of having to be there every Sat, I also sign up my girls for the dance class at Art Fission which is situated at the same premise, which they are also enjoying. -
Anyone heard or send your child to Graces Speech and Drama for nursery classes? If yes, kindly provide feedback or whether it’s better than Lorna Whiston speech and drama classes? Thanks a great deal!!

Dear parents,
My daughter will be six on Oct 15. We’re looking for a speech & drama place that will help her be less shy in big groups. She’s fine in small groups or places she’s familiar with, like her kindy. But as she’s starting P1 next year, we’d like her to learn how to be friendly and approachable in bigger groups.
Also, we’d like her to learn how to take criticism positively. Now, every negative thing she hears makes her very sad. Not sure if speech & drama can help in this though.
