If I assume the cohort to be 400 in size, I’ll get the number of students getting 6 distinctions or more is about 20%. This just numbers and we won’t get a feel if we don’t compare to other schools. Take RI for example, they have approximately 20% of students getting 7 distinctions or more. You can imagine it this way, on average, RV students have on average 1 distinction less than RI’s students. For NJC, if I take their cohort size to be 850, then the percentage of students getting 6 distinctions or more is approximately 16% (I have calculated because they publish the number of students with distinctions on their website). RV probably did slightly better than NJC. I think in percentage term, NJC results is better than VJC and TJC and even Dunman High. So by making some comparison, you get a better feel of where RV stands.

Did u all watch the news last night? That boy was on TV. 😄

Just not long ago, someone told me, RV is a good sec sch but might not be a good JC bec their JC level teachers are still not to the mark. I do hope this sentence is not true.

WeiHan, can we compare this way?

RI - 6 distinctions or more is abt 42%
          HCI - 24%.
          RV - 20%
          NCJ - 16%

RV is very close to HCI. Being the first batch comparing to the 2 top schools that have so many years of history, RV did very well !

According LianHeZaoBao, RV's cohort is 343. So RV has 22.16% with 6 distinctions or more. I think RV is the most value add to the students as I believe RV has the lowest mean PSLE among the so called top schools.

Justsay, where did you get the information on number of students getting 6 distinctions or more for HCI? they said they have more than 200 scoring 7 distinctions and more, don't seem to be able to find information about number of people scoring 6 distinctions?

I saw this stats somewhere but I verified again at their website just now and it is not correct. So the above comparison doesn't stand.

The RV and HCI top scorers have 9 distictions with A1 in HMT while the three from RI and 1 from TJ has A2 for HMT. That is why we see some reports yesterday that this year top are from HCI and RV.

RV has 4H2, 2H1, 2H3 & HMT and IPS Gold Medal. HCI has 4H2, 3H1, 1H3 & HMT. Isn't RV top since has more H3 and IPS Gold Medal?

I think H3 is more difficult and IPS is more difficult. If that is really the case, then Tan Zhi Xiang should be the overall nationwide top this year.
