There are good teachers around too. Their form teacher is quite caring, I believe. Last yr their English teacher was fantastic too. Too bad she left the school. I have already drafted a letter about the teacher for the Principal. But I really don't want to go that far. Still hoping that there's a better tomorrow...[/quote]Ya, my DS llikes the last yr English teacher too. She is kind and helpful, unfortunately she retired and DS said he saw her in school sometimes as she was back as a relief teacher. Really hope that it will be better tomorrow otherwise change of teacher would be better for the boys.
So shock to hear so many negative feedback about the teacher! Wondering if I have made the wrong choice selecting this school for my DS. Have you though of bringing this matter to MOE?silver88:

I will like to go but I have to take care of the younger one at home. Really hope it will be better after the PTM. -

Guess you need to bring to Principal's attention immediately and request him to do something about it. Teachers play a very important roles as they can motivate or make the students hate a subject. For those without patience with children, they shouldn't be even considering teaching as their career! Hope we will have less of these 害群之马 in MSHS.

I tried going online via AsknLearn to book a timing for the PTM, but all I got was this:
There are no resources that has been assigned to you as yet, please check with the school administrator. -

I called the school yesterday and was told that teacher will hand a form to us if we are interested in attending PTM. DS says teacher has not hand him the form yet. Let's wait for next week to see if the form will be hand out.I tried going online via AsknLearn to book a timing for the PTM, but all I got was this:

BTW, Sec 2 parents, do you know there’s a streaming talk on the 25th of March? Have your boys gotten the notification? I emailed the school about streaming criteria to do A Math and Double Science. They informed me that in MS, all will do A Math. To do Double Science need 70% for both Math and Science subjects and at least 70% for Overall Results (for a 8-subject Double Science class), or at least 65% for Overall Results (for a 7-subject Double Science class).

Fellow Sec 2C mothers, did your sons pass their English Compo?
Ds came back with a failure, and all because he wrote a personal recount for the topic REUNION. Whereas a fellow student who wrote himself as a dog for the same topic passed.
Ds approached Mrs Jeya to check on her comments, among which one of them stated: Do not plagarise. Ds told her it was original, it wasnt plagarism, and her reply was:\" I am not accusing you of plagarism, I am just making a comment. This comment is not why I minused your marks.\" :?
Is it really true that according to the GCE standard, for single topics like Reunion or Party, a student CANNOT write personal recount? Mrs Jeya didnt inform the boys at all about this during teaching. -

DS told me his friends in 2A, whose compo usually not so great, got 18 and 21!! Before the CT, DS said the seniors had warned that Mrs Jeya marked stricltly but this is overboard.Fellow Sec 2C mothers, did your sons pass their English Compo?

In DS's primary school, compos were marked by 2 teachers and an average mark given as the final mark. Does anyone know is this the case in MS or sec schs for that matter? I wonder should we request for it? If not our boys' overall grade will suffer in this streaming year! -
S-H:
Actually also my first time going through streaming. Basically, this whole year's overall results will determine his subject choices for next yr. I learned that if they have 2 pure sciences, at the very least, they will have more options in choosing their choice faculty in university. The really good students may even do 3 pure sciences! So if your DS plans to be a doctor, for instance, you may want to find out which sciences are the prerequisite for entry in U's Med faculty.skyjuice:

It really seems too early to decide their future, so I guess safer to have more options. Anyway, I also want to find out more so looking forward to the talk.
