[quote=\"janet_lee88\"]According to collins, tight-lipped is to describe someone as unwilling to give any information about something. I think the answer is (1).

(1) is the correct answer so all of you bingo on this one.
My dd chose (2) cos I will always hide her rewards when she did well for exams and remained \"tight-lipped\". I was \"secretive\". Haha...
She will get the \"surprise\" after she received her report book.

After reading it, I still standby (1). I think it is more appropriate because there is someone wanting to know(ply) more information. Secretive workable, but 'tight-lipped' has more 'feel' in it. -

Really? I thought the word \"secretive\" has enough \"feel\" too...

After reading the passage again myself, I think the girls were trying to elicit info which their parents were trying to conceal, so weren't the parents being secretive? :? -
E3:
Actually both choices will make perfectly good answers. To me, tight-lipped means 'nothing to comment' but it is also synonymous to being secretive. The qn itself is clear, but the choices provided makes the whole qn ambiguous.

Son told me the time allocated for this Friday’s Parent-Teacher is at 920am. Asked him whether I can go at 730am, sing Majulah and then meet his teachers…hahaha.

markfch:
Actually I don't agree ;), tight-lipped is the parents' response (verb?) to the child.. and it means 'not willing to comment'... secretive is a bit more of an adjective, to describe a behaviour so it is not appropriate in this instance.. my 2 cents worth lah

Hi Happy Mama,
My elder dd had never received a feedback form fr her teacher and she is in P5 dis year. So I guess it depends on the Teachers' style.
But whenever I drop an email to the T, usually I'll need to drop an email at least once a year, I'll ask the T for feedback on her behaviour in class. So far, my elder dd's Ts hv bn responsive and on the ball. Not so for my younger dd.
