How would swabbing anything on your throat area help? Maybe the hoaxter was hoping to see people with yellow necks wandering around town.

I received that SMS too tdy. Was scratching my head - why betadine, why Philippines, how to be so precise 4 pm. Well at least it prompted me to surf internet on the radiation protective agent - - potassium iodide ! Note: Only useful if you have them before radiation effects n it has several side effects.


While trying to explain to my kid on Richter scale and it’s magnitude - - here’s what I found it useful and easy enough for kids to understand.

Richter Scale
9.0 — Causes complete devastation and large-scale loss of life.
8.0 — Very few buildings stay up. Bridges fall down. Underground pipes burst. Railroad rails bend. Large rocks move. Smaller objects are tossed into the air. Some objects are swallowed up by the earth.
7.0 — It is hard to keep your balance. The ground cracks. Roads shake. Weak buildings fall down. Other buildings are badly damaged.
6.0 — Pictures can fall off walls. Furniture moves. In some buildings, walls may crack.
5.0 — If you are in a car, it may rock. Glasses and dishes may rattle. Windows may break.
4.0 — Buildings shake a little. It feels like a truck is passing by your house.
3.0 — You may notice this quake if you are sitting still, or upstairs in a house. A hanging object, like a model airplane, may swing.
2.0 — Trees sway. Small ponds ripple. Doors swing slowly. But you can’t tell an earthquake is to blame.
1.0 — Earthquakes this small happen below ground. You can’t feel them.

Here did not mention scale 10. It simply means has never been recorded! Highest so far 9.5 Chilean earthquake in 1960.

My heart goes out to the people affected by the Japan quake and it’s a pain to watch news these few nights.

This is a small matter lah.

I just managed to hear from a few Japanese friends and they are coping even though some are still awaiting news of their own loved ones.

Another friend who is running her own business is now wondering how to continue since her products are manufactured in Japan.

Restaurants which depend on fresh fish from Japan would have a prob.
It's just wonderful that Japanese people are going about their normal lives despite the big tragedy which striked them. Can you believe there is no looting ?
