      Hi Tamama,

ok, ur frm HK. Ive seen quite a no of maids there and they do look older and confident. U mention that the tax for maids in HK is rather expensieve, how much do u pay half yearly. Oh, btw, u can quote in HKdollars. Im quite familiar with the exchange rate.
before the suspension of levy in hk, we paid hkd$400/month. usually the contract is 2 yrs, so $400 x 24(months) = $9600. so paid $2400 every half year to govt.
but now hk suspended the levy from 1 aug 2008 - 31 july 2013. those contract started within the period the employer doesn't need to pay the levy.
i was before, so i could not enjoy the advantage. 😢

Do you allow your helper to bring along her Work Permit when she went for Home Leave ?

I thought they have to bring the WP as they have to show it to the immigration officer when coming back?

No they dont have to show the WP, the officer just check their passport/

I will be bringing my maid along for a trip and was told by MOM that my maid needs to bring along the WP. The custom officer will check validity of the WP when we go through custom.

              Hi

If i need to check whether the dosmetic worker works in singapore before and whether she has few times transfer before, can i check in MOM website?

Can put the link for me. Thanks
You need to ask her to give you her previous WP number(s) in order to verify her work history. The WP portal that you can check at:
              http://www.mom.gov.sg/services-forms/Pages/wp-online-fdw.aspx

Alternatively, the agency can log on using her passport number(s). If she has changed passports, and 'cannot remember' or 'have lost' her old passport, then no verification can be done at the website.

                hi all,

i am new employer and this is my 2nd maid in 5mths time. 1st one transfer out bcos she not satisfied with 1 off day every 3mths.
how many of u here let your maid use hp anytime of the day? my current myanmar maid also have hp hiding somewhere, probably in her bra (it has pockets). hate to change maid again and already used my 1 free replacement. going to other agency is not, as salary now is going higher. mine still the cheapest in the market. in a dilema that i should resign to the fact that maids nowadays sure have hp and want off day.

                  No I dont 😉

The last time my helper was about to exit at the departure gate, i did not bring her work permit and she was not allowed to leave until i went home to get it.

If your helper is going for home leave, ie if she is returning to S'pore, she must have her work permit with her, so that she can return.

If she is going home for good, then you have to retain her work permit and surrender it to MOM later.

my maid also went home without work permit. But if she going on a trip with the family then she must bring her work permit. For example, Malaysia, Thailand or Australia. This is to assure the custom officers that she’s already employed and not going to these countries to look for jobs.

                        Hi beanstalk,

Thanks for your reply and link. My new maid has just renew her passport.
It seem i can only check her record after i get the permit. I was told she works 4 years under same employer.
