      Hi

If i need to check whether the dosmetic worker works in singapore before and whether she has few times transfer before, can i check in MOM website?

Can put the link for me. Thanks
You need to ask her to give you her previous WP number(s) in order to verify her work history. The WP portal that you can check at:
      http://www.mom.gov.sg/services-forms/Pages/wp-online-fdw.aspx

Alternatively, the agency can log on using her passport number(s). If she has changed passports, and 'cannot remember' or 'have lost' her old passport, then no verification can be done at the website.

        hi all,

i am new employer and this is my 2nd maid in 5mths time. 1st one transfer out bcos she not satisfied with 1 off day every 3mths.
how many of u here let your maid use hp anytime of the day? my current myanmar maid also have hp hiding somewhere, probably in her bra (it has pockets). hate to change maid again and already used my 1 free replacement. going to other agency is not, as salary now is going higher. mine still the cheapest in the market. in a dilema that i should resign to the fact that maids nowadays sure have hp and want off day.

Do you allow your helper to bring along her Work Permit when she went for Home Leave ?

          No I dont 😉

The last time my helper was about to exit at the departure gate, i did not bring her work permit and she was not allowed to leave until i went home to get it.

If your helper is going for home leave, ie if she is returning to S'pore, she must have her work permit with her, so that she can return.

If she is going home for good, then you have to retain her work permit and surrender it to MOM later.

my maid also went home without work permit. But if she going on a trip with the family then she must bring her work permit. For example, Malaysia, Thailand or Australia. This is to assure the custom officers that she’s already employed and not going to these countries to look for jobs.

                Hi beanstalk,

Thanks for your reply and link. My new maid has just renew her passport.
It seem i can only check her record after i get the permit. I was told she works 4 years under same employer.

does anyone knows the procedure to renew a maid’s contract for 2 years, if her passport expires only in 5 yrs time?

I can renew her work permit online. But do I need to visit the embassy and sign another contract?

Or get a solicitor to prepare the new contract?

Don’t wish to go to agency as expensive.

                  thx for help.

if yes, i wonder if there is any helper wants to work for you.
hp matter, i told my maid to use it only when it is her rest time at night. so far no problem. 😎

If there is no home visit, then does not matter. You can agree a contract with the maid. if need home visit, then more troublesome, although DIY is still possible.

if her passport only expires in 5 years, good for you; procedure very simple. Just renew the wp online and get the new card (think you have to go in person, she doesn't have to).

As long as she sign on the new contract, should be fine (in fact, I think this is to protect you). I don't think their embassy wants to know about her contract; solicitor will be too expensive. In my case, I would use the same T&C that I signed when I first employ her.

If she goes on home leave, no worries. Just submit the details online (to get your cpf rebate for the time she is away). Can't recall if there is anything to print and for her to bring to customs (don't think there is any). But she will have to carry her work permit when she re-enters SG, else she may be denied entry.
