80% dropped to 50% :!: . No wonder during PTC, CL T told me purposefully to expose ds to P2 stuff. She warned me that PH's expectation, specifically starting from P5 HCL to be extremely high. Now I believe.markfch:

I read through, although I find that the 'twist' element is not there, grammatically, she is ok. She used some 成語,諺語as well as some 俗語(from the 默寫), but, obviously, these were not good enough for her CL teacher this year. I spoke to him during this PTC, he suggested read 大拇指, and that he was not in favour of them to read model compo books from the market. I suppose he was refering to P4 level, maybe a level or 2 higher should be good enough, but that is my guess. I requested that he provides the class with some model writings from the class itself so that we agar know what standard he is looking at.Mum1113:

Before receiving those model writings, I used 2 days during the past 1 week to coach her to use some great phrases flexibly. Make the stories more interesting....with twists to inject some emotions. I am waiting anxiously for her Holiday homework CL compo piece to come back. Hopefully, he is not asking for more, if not, my girl sure cannot handle.
There are 1 handbook for CL compo that I like to use. It is the 维多利亚出版社的小学生作文好帮手------好词好句. It is also available in public lib.[/quote]Thanks for your sharing, IJJ.
ds told me his 2nd CL compo is 8/15. I saw his compo during PTC and the teacher said that ds actually don't know the meaning of those helping words and just anyhow inserted it in the passage.
Agree that PH's CL standard is very high. I bought one 小学生作文好帮手-看图作文which i think is suitable for P3,P4 students(including my ds.句型简单，通顺，还有一些容易理解的好词好句). But obviuosly its lower than PH's standard. very worried about son's SA1 CL compo(句子不通顺，满篇错别字）。 :x -
My dd likes 小学生适用 批改作文 by Victoria Publications. Although she can’t read some of the chars yet, but after checking with me, she likes the way the stories were written. The plus point about this guide book is there are comments at the side for almost all the paras describing the good and weak points of the compositions.
It’s suitable for P4 onwards. -

I think any publishing model writings in Singapore can be used. formly, they are almost the same but slight differences. so far, I haven't involved my dd's CL little bit except her tingxie and moxie. -

It'll only be good if you have the time to guide her with the \"difficult\" chars. I have to screen thru all the essays, then highlight only the ones that I find it's within her \"zone of understanding\" for her to read. Other than these highlighted essays, she read from another model compo book which was closer to her level. It's a compilation of well-written compos written by kids from different schools. This year, I have yet to find a really good one.
