tamarind:
I think it is good that they don't make it compulsory. I notice that a lot of children have enrichment classes outside school and that already takes up some time. So it is a matter of whether the student has the time and interest in the CCAs offered in the school. I am not against CCA, in fact I think it can help the child learn teambuilding, discipline, organisation skill as well as getting to know friends who share the same interest. If the timing is right and the CCA is of interest to my son, I will not hesitate to let him sign up for it.I heard from the principal this morning, that CCAs are NOT compulsory in West Grove. If our kids are taking swimming lessons, then we can actually inform the school, so they don't need to take another CCA !
What do you parents think about this ? -
tamarind, you were there yday also??? I was there too.

Another mommy complained to the principal that her kid has to do the grammar book from page 20+ to 90+ ! I wonder if her kid heard the teacher wrongly.

Agree with you that the gal probably misinterpreted the teacher’s instruction. In my boy’s class, the grammer exercise was not done in the order indicated in the content page but rather it was based on the topic that the teacher was teaching at that time. -
tamarind, guess that’s ME who complained to the principal abt the homework from Grammar Workbook. You were standing near? I cant recognise you leh.
And well, after I checked with her teacher, she said that it was supposed to be ‘class’ work as she was not in sch last Wed. And I wonder how many kid has the ability to complete so many pages in the class in one day!!! My gal interpreted it as ‘homework’ as she couldnt finish all those pages in the class. Sigh…
Another mummy was sharing that she even take one day leave to help her boy to complete those ‘homework’.
I not sure how my gal is gg to progress with the same teacher for her first 2yrs in the school so having thot of changing sch for her long term’s benefit. -
