So it means that children will get \"moved\" from HCL to CL at end P5 if they don't qualify...hmm...quite damaging for child's ego right? That means if my child does HCL, I must work harder to help child stay on HCL. Wow! I must be super mom again.

there is typo error in my previous posting, shd be end of P4 not P5.
at end of P5, if the HCL results are not within the school expectations,
the pupils would be told to drop HCL. (though they usually appeal for it).

I think NYPS has a better policy : they will encourage every child to take HCL unless the child really faired very badly in HCL/CL at P4. They are less hung up on pass rates / distinction rates for HCL at PSLE - unless the new P has changed the policy

Some parents insist their kids continue with HCL even though the child is struggling. I did ask son's CL teacher last year why he can't continue with it since it was just SA2 which he didn't do particularly well. She told me he was struggling in class with it and in P5, subjects will be tougher esp Math...I took her word and agreed to drop HCL. P5 Maths IS tough.

No point struggling if you have other subjects to worry about. At the end of the day, it's just the 4 main subjects that will be counted towards your aggregate score.

I am considering these 2 schools for my son

                1) Aitong
                2) Pei Chun

Planning to do PV to get in Phase 2B and will be able to be within 1 km of these 2 schools (using 2 different address)

From I have seen from the school website, it seems PeiChun is easier to get it. Almost 100% in 2B, within 1km, if I remember correctly.

Aitong had to ballot last year even for within 1km.

Anyone familar with either of these 2 school can share your view ?
Is it possible to apply to PV at both school, and if select by either one and "reject" the other ?

                  Hi aloyboy

Yes it is possible to apply for PV at both schools and if accepted by both, yes it is also possible to turn one down and just do PV at the one you prefer. Just make sure you are in time to apply for PV as different schools have different closing dates.

You mention you would be using two addresses so you are within 1km of either schools? :?

RGPS teach higher Chinese starting from Pri 1. The school teach higher Chinese, but don’t use the normal, usual higher Chinese textbooks. Not sure how the Chinese HOD handle this.

Ngee Ann primary - beginning Pri 1 Term 1 got entrance proficiency tests based on Chinese. But not sure if Higher chinese starts immediately after this entrance test results, or wait until Pri 2 Term 1 onwards.

Yes, I heard that RPGS teach HCL and was wondering if the school is SAP...now that you mention not the textbook for HCL, then what is school using. Quite curious.
