What Type Of Rice You Makan (AAA)
-
I use the ”双虹“ from NTUC and mixed in 1 scoop (use the baby milk powder scoop) of multi-grains. The rice is purplish in color but still soft. I think it is healthier to eat multi-grains. When my kids were small, I grind the multi-grains into powder and add that plus the brown rice powder to cook porridge for them.

I agreed. I had 2 bags of 5kg infested with rice bugs during the period my elder boy was in sch boarding, hence only cooked a small qty most of the time. In the end, I bou NTUC hse brand that comes in 1kg pkt with pdtn date printed on the pkt.Jennifer:

Hi Hi,
About preventing rice bugs, my MIL put dried chilli into the rice bin and we followed the same. Seems to be a great help in preventing rice bugs because we hardly encountered any! Usually we buy the 5 kg type and that can last quite some time.
Anybody with experience or can confirm this way of preventing rice bugs helps?
:celebrate:[/quote]Sounds like a good tip. So the dried chilli is the type you use to cook gung bao ji ding is it? -

Yes, I think so, those quite large dried chilli, just put a handful of those on top of the rice in the rice bin. Can try if you got rice bugs problem and let us know if it helps!

okay, we eat the fragrant purple hill rice, by special arrangement by someone who buys for me

To remove the chewy texture, I soak the mixed rice grains in the rice cooker for 1-2 hours before cooking. The cooked grains are softer like white rice.AgnesMM:
how do you get kids to eat brown rice mixed with white rice? My 9 years old don like brown rice.
Hi AgnesMM,
We mixed in about 1/3 brown rice to 2/3 white rice or ratio at the most 1/2, 1/2 so the rice cooked is still soft but is redish in colour. My boy 3.5 yo hence we are trying to let him get use to seeing and eating \"brown\" rice. For us adults, we ate white rice for years only now eating mixed rice. To me it taste the same just a little bit more chewy that's all!

I like Australian Calrose rice... if not, I buy the NTUC Gold Thai hom mali - 1 rinse only. Sometimes my mom buys basmati rice to mix in.

For us its Songhe or Royal Umbella.. ...for some reason my mum don't like New Moon leh..

i realise that New moon rice has \"no volume\" after cooking,
high moisture content ?? -

Any idea what is the difference between brown rice and red cargo rice? :? My MIL used to mix what she call 'brown rice' with normal white rice but I later realised that what she mixed is not brown rice, but red cargo rice. It turns out reddish, not brownish...AgnesMM:
