Also update for P1 parents who missed the Holistic Assessment Talk :
No exam till P2 SA2, which will be used for P3 class placement (ie, our only chance to get into the kids into good classes?)
Will be using below to guage students’ progress :
topical tests
(no dates will be given)
(on average 2/term/subject >> total 6 per term)
Show and Tell - self, peer and teacher’s assessments using smiley face
(break down into small items)
(if major difference, then reassess by other teachers)
profolio and feedback from teachers
(like kindy’s type)
(break down into different subjects, further into Listening, Speech, Reading, etc abilities… then further into a few more items on the checklists…)
Cannot remember again… die, old liao…
Anyway, they sound rather unsure of themselves… there might be some changes I think, after the parents’ feedbacks… -

According to school, if CL marginally not Band1, they might still recommend.
Thanks for sharing! Wow..CL must be band 1 to be in HCL for P5 onwards..tough standard. :!:
For Maths, the banding starts in P4. The top 3 classes have their maths banded in M1/2/3. I think the other classes take standard Maths.
If not recommended, PARENTS CAN still decide to let child take but please be prepared for the suffering lah.
Yes, for Maths, the banding to M1/2/3 still goes on. It's to stretch those with higher ability and help those struggling. -

I missed it three, after I understood that from 2008, streaming in primary schools was scrapped and replaced by subject-based banding...E3:
Hi, anybody went for the SBB Talk last Sat? I missed it.
I missed it too.

I encourage current P1 parents to train your kids \"exam stamina\" before P2 SA2. Doing a 45mins-1hr tests regularly is still different from having to sit through a 1.5hrs paper in P2 SA2.
In general due to these changes, the school seems to be very unsure in a lot of stuff. This year P2 SA1 info by school is less informative than last year P1 SA1. The school did not share the actual exam component yet. -

Sorry I need to ask a simple qn cos I didn't attend the talk. So at P2, everything depends on SA2? There's no continuous assessment of any kind in P2?Also update for P1 parents who missed the Holistic Assessment Talk :

I think they will breakdown the component, if not the parents will all :faint: -- 100% SA2 is no joke. -
Thanks , JoeeYee for your sharing.

As mine was transfered to PH only in Jun P2, all her CA1/SA1 in ex school were totally disregarded, the 100% SA2 was seriously no joke.
