Where can i find a particular's school's past balloting results?

is your kid due for registration this year?
if yes, then have to call up the school to check. if not, referring to past year's balloting results is pretty accurate....that is if you have kept a copy of last year's Straits Times special on P1 registration where they tabulate which schools having balloting for what distance and phase.
if your kid's registration is not this year, you can start tabulating and collecting this year's info....:)
      which school are you eyeing?

I was looking at the past years balloting results, but don't seem to be able to understand the colour coding. Need some help here. If I stay within 1-2km of Rosyth School, does it mean that my child will stand a chance if I go in under Phase 2B i.e. PV?

First you look at the annual tables. This is what you should be able to gather:
        1. Rosyth had balloting for applicants >2km in Phase 2B of 2006 and 2007. There was no balloting for Phase 2B in 2008.

        2. Looking at the APP column for Phase 2 reveals a bit more. The surplus demand for Phase 2B places has steadily decreased in the last 3 years for Rosyth. It went from 120% in 2006, to a very borderline balloting situation (50 for 51 places or 102%) in 2007, to below 100% and no balloting in 2008.

        3. More significantly, this drop in APP goes against the fact that 2007 has 1 less class (30 students) than 2006, so the number of vacancies is even less in 2007 than 2006. This is not normal if demand was maintained at the same levels as the previous year. So there was a significant fall in demand for Rosyth in 2007 from 2006 in Phase 2B.

        4. The TUR for 2009 up to Phase 2A2 is a hefty -12% from the historical average. What makes this interesting is that this is despite another drop of 30 vacancies from the 2008 in-take. So demand for Rosyth for Phase 1 and Phase 2A has dropped at a very steady pace from 2006 till NOW.

Conclusion: If you are going for Rosyth in Phase 2B this year at ANY distance, you should be quite happy right now. Balloting is unlikely to happen in Phase 2B - at all.

Don't hang me if balloting actually happens due to some strange freak phenomenon :).

Call up and ask the school at the end of each day. They will tell you.

Wow, this analysis is detailed. BTW, it is only the PV and community leaders in Phase 2B. I heard the PV needs to clock 70 hours in 2 years before the registration date.

Allow me to add on to the reason for the decrease number in Phase 2B. In order not to subject PV to balloting during 2B, Rosyth is very prudent as to limit its PV numbers. If I am not wrong, Rosyth turned away close to hundred of PV applicants yearly so as to ensure PV’s effort are not wasted.

Put in the another way, if you have been selected as a PV in Rosyth, chances of your P1 registration is pretty high.

Ah... the mystery is solved! Congratulations to all those PVs who have put in their hardwork to get into Rosyth!

Just met my ex-colleague last week. (chatting abt schools) She told me tat she was asked to continue to do PV last time.

I was very surprised to hear tat because her son was already studying in tat sch (she was an ex student there) Someone actually wanted her to do it so less ppl will hv chances to be a PV there since she had already taken up a place.

                      Now u know why.

You are talking about people asking her to join the PSG is it?

There was a school which i inquired about pv. They replied saying that they don't have enough work for more pv parents. I shot them back asking them to explain why did they in their website still encourage parents of existing students to join PSG and yet on this hand said no work for pv parents.
They then 'change their story' and clarified that they meant current pv application is closed and asked me to call back next year.
