Singapore is indeed short of babies...but with education as well as costs of living getting so stressful and expensive, how to create more ? I couldn't wait to get rid of my maid. Hubby & I coach children in their studies on our own, other than Chinese tuition.

Think it's a double edged sword. Not enough babies? Invite more foreign \"talent\" :scratchhead: to become PR.

More PR=more expensive houses. More PR=more commuters during MRT peak period. Means more $$$ spent on our transportation infrastructure. This translates to more tax on the people, more ERP gantry, more expensive car etc.....

In turn, true blue Singaporean find it too expensive to have bb=less bb

If PRs want to remain PRs, then let them be. It’s not fair to force any PR to convert to be Singaporean. Btw, newly converted Singaporeans may not give birth to more babies either…after staying here for a few years, these newly converted SCs will start to feel the high costs of living. Then it’s back to square one again.

all i can say is good luck to the next batch of dragon babies... likely to have a spike in birth rates, and in the meantime school places will shrink to all time low from just one session...

Total number of available places will always exceed the expected number of children registering. While some schools chose to shrink their intake to get ready for single sessions, some schools will \"upgrade\" their campus to have more classrooms. New schools will also be built to make up the number shrank.

Next batch of Dragon babies will be born next year 2012...my son will be 12 next year, the first batch of Dragon kids born in Year 2000.
