Yes, my boy was shortlisted for the selection camp.
It seems like they have a tough process like nush too. What is your main reason for applying SST? Besides, SST, where else have you enrol for your boy for DSA? Do you know if any GEP student applying for DSA to SST? -

Main reason? My boy's choice. We don't choose or enrol for him. He does. -
phankao:
Yup, i mean the video clip needs to be presented on the day of the camp. Dunno wat to produce. :idea:Erm, no, it must be produced before the camp.
And so big deal, all docs need to be certified. I suppose just bring the original and ask SST to certify themselves lah. siao.MdmKS:

He is definitely not the type for IB program which requires one to be good in languages. Actually i will like him to go to NUSH but he is afraid that it will be too stressful. So i let him choose.
Only choose one school for DSA.
So much work, if choose more, can't concentrate on PSLE. -
think this morning, SST hold its DSA Selection Camp? Anything to share?

My boy has been selected for the 2nd camp on Aug 1st. Just curious how was the 1st camp, was the HAST tough (well, it is supposed to be tough ...) ?
We are still stuck wondering what to put into the video :stupid: .
My boy is sooooo keen on SST, he loved the school and so want to support him as much as I can. Any pointers will b of great help. Thanks :?: -
A friend of mine says her child had to sit for a Chinese test at SSTβs camp. I wonder why they would need to test their Chinese competency.

My son said it was just a survey conducted in Chinese, not a test.
Maybe they made it that way, so the kids would find it fun rather than stressful! -

I see. My friend said it was a Chinese essay. Some miscommunication between my friend and her child perhaps.turquoise:

My son said it was a short essay too - to be around 80 to 100 words. Can't remember if it was the English one or the Chinese one that is supposed to be a writeup on Aliens and another is to be about the student him/herself. And the worksheet also surveys on uniform, logo, and other English sections too, apart from the \"compo-writing\". Altogether 6 pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My son couldn't finish that worksheet. SST arranged a later timing for my son bc he had NJC camp in the morning, and he took the HAST test the day before. But when the SST staff brought him to the group he was to join, the rest had already started on the worksheet, something like 30-45mins earlier. Worse yet, the SST staff brought him in and introduced him as \"Here's one of the latecomers!\". Not so nice, I thought. They brought 1 \"latecomer\" to each group only. There were a few with same arrangement bc of several reasons as in exams/tests in the morning.
I don't know how serious it is bc when I queried about it, SST said it's \"not important\" since it was only a \"survey\". But have you ever heard of a survey where you are supposed to do 2 writeups of 100 words each in Chinese & English? Weird, huh?
I saw quite a number of GEP boys from my son's school and I even saw Sec 1 boys from top schools there at the selection camp (top schools - read THE TOP TOP schools). -

That sounds like a lot to do for something that's \"not important.\" I would stress out if I had to to write a Chinese essay of 100 words.

phankao, it was nice of SST to make alternate arrangements for your son to accomodate his other tests. It must have been quite tiring for him to manage both the NJC and SST camps. How did he find the NJC camp?
