I don't think I got the energy to prepare ds for 6 tests a yr, per subject. Not with my full time job & household chores to complete daily. :faint:

That's why I salute those parents who hv very good stamina.

When my elder boy just started pri sch, I also bou many assessment books and did them diligently with him (#2 still a toddler then, plus lived with MIL who had a domestic helper, cum I was still young then).

Come #2's turn, I old liao, cut corners here n there, thinking sch teachers will do a good job. Big mistake.

Mark, u must drink Redbull and consume Brand's essence of chicken daily. Else how to accompany the pupil's journey 😉

How come there are 6 tests per subject a yr?
How to prepare test? Is it we need energy to prepare test? hehe...
I am very admire the parents whose can prepare the practice with children for every subject.
but for me, when the exam is coming, we do same as usual, continue to do the higher level’s assessment book, there is no focus too much on the exam.

After 4 years of intensive coaching, I feel rather tired...but P5 this year is the start of crucial stuff and PSLE preparation. The education journey is long...so swim slowly and don't burn out too early.

I counted. I realised that NYPS doesn't really have CA/SA concept for CL. Instead they have continuous tests to complete for every few chapters covered. This is as far as I can remember (unless my copy is not bone fide. haha).

Consume so much nutritious stuff, later at night I :nosebleed: how? 😉

Btw (pls allow this proud papa to boast a little, pleeeease), yesterday I realised that besides being good in playing computer games and spending my money, ds is also quite good in playing piano. Yesterday, he played for me 2 classical songs with his eyes closed. :faint:

Maybe he thinks he's Lang Lang, haha. Really chute a lot of pattern which is a form of entertainment for me, I guess. Ok boasting over, now I must get back to reality.

Thought of sharing this incident related to Oral test.

Ytd was my boy’s CL oral test. He claimed his passage reading is good. How he knows? The class had practices and a particular boy recd good reviews from the class teacher. So my boy copied this classmate’s reading style- tone, pitch and speed.

So, remind you child to pay attention during oral practices. Can learn from other classmates’ strengths and weaknesses.

Just wondering, should ALL the characters in the CL oral be covered before in the prior and current years’ curriculum? Are there incidences that, in the past, the school will include one or two new character(s) in the CL oral passages?

The reason that I asked was a new char was given in the P3 CL oral passage on Tuesday. Would they be penalised for substituting, misreading or skipping that char which they are not familiar with?

Haha...He is so cute. There are signs that he has a gift for music...hehe.
We will be happy to hear the kids' proud...so the parents dont hesitate to boast. 😎

I think it would be hard to pinpoint whether the character is new or hv bn taught before unless we hv access to the passage. What is the character?

It is not uncommon for CL compreh passage to hv new characters. Not too sure for oral reading passage. Will check with my boy when he comes home.
