Lizhi, their classmates said the DAY 1 CL oral was easier. Your dd took hers on the first day. The picture for day 2 was a BBQ picnic. My dd could identify and describe the scene well enough but many of her classmates couldn't express BBQ picnic in chinese so they either didn't mention or changed it to something else.
New character(s) ? what's that...I asked my dd what's oral pic? she didnt answer me...after I chased her again, she told, It is about bakery.lizhi:
Just wondering, should ALL the characters in the CL oral be covered before in the prior and current years' curriculum? Are there incidences that, in the past, the school will include one or two new character(s) in the CL oral passages?
The reason that I asked was a new char was given in the P3 CL oral passage on Tuesday. Would they be penalised for substituting, misreading or skipping that char which they are not familiar with?
The new character is η.
This character is covered in 3B textbook unit 19. Could be an oversight by the paper setter who included this character. Then again, not uncommom for sch to test at least 5% out of scope. -
lizhi:
OIC, I didn't know that two days oral exam was diffrence.
The sch oral tests are conducted over 2 days. PSLE also like this.
First 1/2 of the class takes EL, 2nd 1/2 takes CL on first day. Then second day, alternate the arrangement. Both reading passages and pic conversation are different. -
Jennifer:
Found it. You are right, it's in 3B - CHAPTER NINETEEN. Her T in the past told them before that everything will be within their readability. We had practiced reading many passages, including unfamiliar chars, somehow, still not enough. Sigh. Why do they want to push us beyond our limits? So, SA2, I have to ensure she knows the chars for P4 or maybe P5...might as well start PSLE now....?E3:

This character shld be found in the CL version of \"The 3 little pigs\".Jennifer:

I also felt such frustrations during my elder boy's. But think very hard to catch up the MOE or sch pace. So just do whatever is within the child's capability. -

Ya, you are right again. Sorry for my ranting...I shall take it as a learning experience. Anyway, it's boring if life's not full of surprises, welcome or unwelcome. :celebrate: -
Hi Parents,
I called up school to enquire the dates for SA1β¦now that May 9 is a public holiday.
Someone in general office told me the school premise may be used for some election/polling venue on May 6 (Friday)β¦and that school may possibly end at 12pm. Anyway, Iβm waiting for the circular to be issued as confirmation.
It would be wonderful if the school can be used for Polling Day, then I wouldnβt have to go to Greenwich to vote. -

For the charactor's covered/uncovered question, I have 'complained' to the Chinese Teacher when my dd was p2...finally the conclusion was, my ranting was no use, what we can do is try to learn steadily and surely in advance.

Sorry to interrupt here but markfch :congrats:Btw (pls allow this proud papa to boast a little, pleeeease), yesterday I realised that besides being good in playing computer games and spending my money, ds is also quite good in playing piano. Yesterday, he played for me 2 classical songs with his eyes closed. :faint:
Maybe he thinks he's Lang Lang, haha. Really chute a lot of pattern which is a form of entertainment for me, I guess. Ok boasting over, now I must get back to reality.
aiyo.. with eyes closed still consider \"quite good\" only?? Don't be so humble.
You must have flew to cloud nine!! :boogie:
Makes all your investment worthwhile
