I do know that some of Lang Lang's peers is teaching in Singapore .... but more :moneyflies: :moneyflies:
Haha...He is so cute. There are signs that he has a gift for music...hehe.markfch:
Btw (pls allow this proud papa to boast a little, pleeeease), yesterday I realised that besides being good in playing computer games and spending my money, ds is also quite good in playing piano. Yesterday, he played for me 2 classical songs with his eyes closed. :faint:
Maybe he thinks he's Lang Lang, haha. Really chute a lot of pattern which is a form of entertainment for me, I guess. Ok boasting over, now I must get back to reality.
We will be happy to hear the kids' proud...so the parents dont hesitate to boast.

Playing with eyes closed is a wonderful skill to acquire. It builds confidence and improves the feelings to be exhibited from the piece of music. It's good to play by ear. My dd's piano teacher often asks her to do that too.
Actually I realised I'm quite out-of-topic. Everyone's talking about SA and here I am, happily harping on what makes my day, everyday.

CONFIRMED - Pei Hwa is a Polling Station.Hi Parents,
I called up school to enquire the dates for SA1...now that May 9 is a public holiday.
Someone in general office told me the school premise may be used for some election/polling venue on May 6 (Friday)...and that school may possibly end at 12pm. Anyway, I'm waiting for the circular to be issued as confirmation.
It would be wonderful if the school can be used for Polling Day, then I wouldn't have to go to Greenwich to vote.
So P1 and P2 .. no school :celebrate:
One more day to prepare for exam. -

Knowing how to relax and give space to your ds is a good thing. :celebrate: -

They started sending out yesterday, some will receive today, the rest should be by Friday the latest. -
I found out something really shocking today. Dd told me her FT does not mark their compositions! She will let the kids mark one another’s work.
She had given 4 compos, 2 did at home and 2 in school. Till now, i’ve not seen marked ones returned so I asked my dd. She said they had only marked the first set some time back in class. FT collected them but we’ve yet to see them to know whether she had remarked.
She has the habit of getting the class to mark everything but I can close one eye for work sheets and activity books but compositions too??
If the FT is reading this, I hope she’ll put in some effort to at least acknowledge or read their work. The kids had put in time and effort to write.
Sorry…cannot ding ding ding here. -

Just now i asked my dd about this, she told me that the FT want them know how to check when doing compo. I'm not sure this is good or not. May it is a attempt to let them pay attention to the points of cut-off scores in another way? :?I found out something really shocking today. Dd told me her FT does not mark their compositions! If I bump into my boy's EL teacher, I will ask her IMO if this arrangement serves any purpose or is appropriate for P3ers.
This year my P4 boy has a very good CL teacher who leaves qns/comments all over the compo. The most recent one was returned and the pupils were to re-write the compo. After taking into account all her qns/comments, my boy attained a 10/15. -

Lizhi, no matter what, a P3er cannot effectively grade a compo yet. She asked them to check the grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes. However, sometimes, grammar is not so straightforward when it is used in different sentence structures. My dd told me she was marking a messy piece of her classmate's. I think it defeats the purpose if the child is struggling marking their peers' work. FT is cutting the corners.

If she returned those marked copies with her individual comments and grading, then I have nothing to say. I hope she does. That piece was done quite some time ago. If the kids marked their own compos, we don't need teachers anymore.
