I'm also trying to get a cheap & good printer.Mainly use to print exam papers & letters. Don't really require any photocopy feature or scanning feature.

So laser monochrome is the way to go?Sometime find that have a printer at home where really take up a lot of space.
There was this HP printer at courts mega store some time back. It is quite compact. The offer price I think should be good till end of april if I'm not mistaken.
      tisha:
HP: $169 - monochrome, laser, wireless , compact, but only prints(no scan, photocopy) latest model.

Printers are cheap but the cartridges or toners are not!

So do check out the price of those before buying.

        Thank you for you advise.

The new cartridges price before 7% discount was:

        Black : $20.50
        Colour : $25.90

Our usage is very low and thinks the ink should be last us quite some time

Yes, printers are such that machine itself is cheap, but prices of cart kill !!!
I need a flatbed printer to print out pages from certain books...use printer a lot, so must consider price of cart b4 anything else.

I just want to share that even if you plan to buy HP printer, you really have to do alot of homework on it. My previous HP printer was great but it "kaput" so I went off to get a new replacement.

I have alot to gripe about my current one so I am NOT recommending this model HP Photosmart C5380 All-in-One (printer, scanner, copier). reasons as follows:

            1. My previous printer could do the same but it was alot faster…this one needs alot of intialisation and re-initialisation before it can move. I call it "high inertia" printer. So if you are always in a hurry like me, you will hate the speed of this printer.

            2. It drinks ink as if it has been out in the desert for a while. If you use the normal cartridges, it cannot last for printing 1/4 rim of papers as an estimate. You have to buy the XL version. I do not consider myself a heavy user but I spend alot of time buying cartridges initially.

The one-merit I like about this is the ability to print on the surface of a CD so that allows me to make pretty CDs but this is really a good-to-have feature only. Photo quality is also not bad just that inks runs out super fast.

So I missed my old HP printer. So if anyone has a better HP printer model to recommend, please share it here. It will be my next change!!

My daddie has a Canon Wireless one. So cool!

Canon ink cartridges adopt the think tank where
u only need to replace the tanks that are out instead
of replacing all. My old Epson needed all four or else it
                  won't print anything! 😢

If you are just printing papers alone, I recommend Xerox , using toner.

can consider Epson TX121, the color cartridge is seperate type and its original ink cartridge is not so expensive. the economy type is selling about $11.

before buy printer , must check whether your printer compatible for your computer OS 😄

get a laser printer. It is the most cost effective for black and white prints. The samsung ones are pretty reasonable.
