this used to be the 1 of the IN place for family outings

Eeehhhh....anyone care to tell me where is this place?

the empty space opposite Liang Court, below Fort Canning
It was the iconic National Theatre, place where most of the PM's National Day Rally was held

Yeah it was so iconic and hence ironic that they demolished it.

the Vancleef Aquarium, next to the former National Theatre, opposite the present day Clark Quay, behind the present day multi-colour window building at Hill Street[/quote]The correct spelling should be Van Kleef.

It is named after Karl Willem Benjamin Van Kleef, a Dutchman who resided in Singapore in the late 19th and early 20th century and ran a successful business from an office at the corner of Collyer Quay and De Souza Street.1 Van Kleef made a considerable fortune in property and stock in both Holland and Singapore, and upon his death in 1930, the net proceedings of his estates were bequeathed to the Municipal Government of Singapore for the embellishment of the Singapore town.

obviously the paragraph above is copied
