Me too.. Am thinking of doing a 1-day trip with DS (11 &12yr). Anyone can feed back what can we do at JB.I am also planning a ride before the rail service cease.
However, I don't want to go as far as KL.
Is it possible to get off at JB ? What's there to do and see before heading back ?
I am thinking more of a day trip kind of thing. -
Do they allow eating or bringing food in the KTM?

Just bought tickets for tomorrow. Saw a group of youth buying tickets and going up there also tomorrow.

Yes food are allowed in train and please arm yourself with more food if travelling with kids.
We took the train back from Ipoh to KL last July and for some strange reason there wasnt a buffet koc (cafeteria) on that express train. Everyone was walking up and down looking for food.
The train rides are slow but a new experience for the kids. My kids were busy spotting coconut tree, banana and you will palm oil plantation, someone’s backyard, cows, buffalo and not forgetting the twin towers when approaching KL.
If you are in the 1st class, the seats can be changed to face each other (180 degree turn). Just nice if you are a family of 4 with young children. -
:thankyou: Queen

Finally tried travelling by rail from Tanjong Pagar to JB Sentral. My DS was quite interested in the road crossings we have to pass through. In fact the held up is at Woodlands Train Checkpoint where we have to go through the Singapore immigration and custom which took about half an hour for all the passengers to clear. We passed through the causeway in such a breeze.
Just a caution for those interested. You cannot book online if you intend to travel only up to Segamat. The tickets are also only available at the KTM counter 24 hours before the departure time. You will have to fork out S$13 for adult and $11 for child for the experience you will not get after July 1st 2011. -

Hi JR- Would need your advice. Can we book online for the train ticket from Singapore to JB Sentral 24 hours before departure? Or the tickets are strictly available from the KTM counters only??
