Chicken Pox

micollh:
understand ur concern :snuggles: my DD & DS both got their fair share of chix pox out already :celebrate:
yes it's not 100% protection but it will minimise the impact on our child if they get it, as in wont be too serious, serious chicken pox will kill a child or leave permanent mark on their body. not sure if u have read the news paper article (Life, last year or so) on the impact of chicken pox to toddler and you kids.poppy15:
i didnt bring the kids for any vaccination against chix pox. the older folks believe in getting them to come into contact with chix pox. it helps build up their immune system.
and i think the vaccination is also not 100% against.
i rather be safe than sorry lor. esp my dd is in childcare. -
Hi would the antiviral medication cause any side effect? The purpose of antiviral medication was shorten the course of the disease. In this case, would those who taken the antiviral medication may down with the chickenpox again.
janet_lee88:
Do take care. Have you seen the doctor for the anti-viral medication ?[/quote]
Oh dear. Take care. :hugs:BlurBee:

You are so funny. My son is having rash now. I'm hoping my family doc clinic will open later so we can see him to check.
May I ask where do you live so that I can visit you to pass the virus to me? I dont mind getting a 2nd round of chickenpox, since I can get paid MC! :lol:DesertWind:

Both my kids were vaccinated at 1. My second one got chicken pox in Nov last year, lucky after exam. Was very mild. Now my elder one, aye... Hope it's not chicken pox. If yes, I can send you some virus to help you get 1 week MC  -
Emergency Help!
Has anyone taken the jab that help to reduce the eruption from chicken pox. I heard it cost at least 100. I suspect my son is having it and he has to travel overseas for competition in 10 days time, also have local competition he cannot miss. Hope the jab can help. What is it called and any side effects? Must jab early right otherwise no effect? -
dovetail:
Isn't that similar to the antiviral meds? Anyway, with the antiviral meds he'd be ready to be off & going in 5 to 7 days. Usually doc gives 7 days MC for chixpox with antivirals and 14days MC for those who don't take meds.Emergency Help!

Can only see family doc Monday morning. If it's chicken pox, it'll be too late for anti-viral treatment. Must do it within 48hrs of eruption. Still not sure if it is chicken pox. He has tiny pimplish bumps all over his body. I use magnifying glass to check, don't see blisters. Also no flu-like symptom. He was vaccinated at one, even if he should get again, the rash should not be so many. -
My son (21/2 yrs old) was also down with chicken pox. The doctor said no need to take antiviral and said that it was very tedious, 1 day need to consume 4 or 5 times of the medicine. he also said if take antiviral it may only shorten the recover days to 2 or 3 days earlier than those who take. The doc only prescibed him some medicine to reduce the itchy of the rashes. Did everyone given the antiviral to your kids who aged was between 3 to 5 years old during the period they down with chicken pox? Does the antiviral help?

My husband read over the net that it’s better not to take if you are a healthy individual and can go thru the chicken pox. The drug is very taxing on the kidneys, have to drink a lot of fluid. Also may suffer side effects.
For my son, doctor said today it is just rash from food allergy. lucky! -
my DD who has taken Chicken pox vaccination seem to be infected by CP as her school has many cases now… several red spot was found on her body, doc give anti-viral. so far so fever yet. doc sasid to monitor, tmw go back to let her see again to confirm if it’s CP. sigh.

Since your DD has taken the chicken pox vaccine, if she is infected; it will be a mild case. How come the doc need to give anti-viral?
