I've learnt from my P1 son that PAL subject is actually Play & Learn, and FTGP is Form Teacher Guidance Programme, but still clueless about what actually happens then. :?

Anyone can help?

Hiya, I've emailed my gal's form teacher the 2nd week inquiring bout the subject abbreviations and got a reply from her. One week later, the class teacher also sent a bulletin to my girl's class (not sure if other classes have it). These are the info I've gotten


CME: Civics & Moral Education (Part of Mother Tongue Lessons)
FTGP: Form Teacher Guidance Period
ICT: Information Communication Technology (Computer Lesson)
PAL: Program for Active Learning

I don't know what is PAL but my gal has mentioned before that she loves PAL lessons so must be like what you've mentioned, Play and Learn!

Hi! My son is in Primary 1 and I'd say I quite content with the school. I didnt do PV but came in thro' Phase 2C Supp.

There’s student care ,yes within the school. It’s called NASCANS. My son doesnt attend that. my mom takes care of him after sch. We’re happy with the sch,teachers/principal is very nice

This response might be a tad too late. Anyway, my child is only in Pri 1 but I do NOT get the feeling that the school is very academically driven. Instead it looks at an all-rounded development of the children in terms of expressing themselves (through the show and tell, speech and drama) and learning through exploration (PAL program). Also, the sch has a policy of no homework on Fridays so that says alot.

I would expect schools who are results driven to be giving tonnes of homework, tuition or enrichment programmes.

oh, no homework on fridays... so that children will have more time with family... not sure is it good or bad :?

Why would spending more time with family be bad??
I fully advocate this for greater work life balance..

WCW, yes born in 2005. When he was born we thought he would b gg to the other nearby very very popular school, but over the years it seems impossible to get in. Lucky draw style, even within 1 km. Worse is, if fail 2C also have to ballot 2C Sup at AGPS. Anyway, went to AGPS open house in May and had a very good feeling about this school. Better than some others further away. From the numbers one can tell this school also getting more popular.

I went through the same dilemna as you. Finally a visit to AGPS gave me good vibes and decided to go with my guts for once. No regrets so far.
Not too stressful environment and my child is enjoying herself.
