For last year 2010 SA2 P5 MA Highest was 93, Avg was 58 and Median was 60, not easy :nailbite:

The highest is 100. AVG in M1 is 78.

Average for the entire P5 cohort is 50 or 53[/quote]Thus, the children could easily get cold feet. It would not conducive to the study of children. The parents have to turn to tuition. :scratchhead:

        Janet,

Last yr 11 classes. This yr maybe 10?
I suggest that you don’t 知法犯法. If discovered, not only both of you will get into trouble, poor kid will have to be moved out of the school.

I have seen many parents doing unscrupulous things because of their children, without sparing a thought for others.

Oh yes, you have a child in PH. The school may check the address if unlucky and discover that someone in the same school has the same address.

Keke. . if want to "borrow" address, borrow one with no kids in that school. That also means that they will need to change address for a few documents. By the way, I understand that if rental address is used, is actually considered as within 1-2km.

Told my hubby about that unscrupulous and thoughtless comment. He hit the roof   Told him I will never agree to it, bcos firstly son is studying there and secondly, that person is not worth for me to get into trouble. Anyway, I made a comment that staying within 1km also need to ballot...not guaranteed place since last year.

Reduce another class this year ?? Oh dear, that must be even more stressful for parents staying within 1km then. Oh yes just recently I heard of this family whose child was not able to get a place in PH...the family had paid premium for a flat in Toh Yi...now :stompfeet: and wants to sell of the flat asap.

I believe this is “traditional” of every school. I have seen or felt it in recent years.
It is obviously the duty of teaching has been transferred to the parents. The parents are busy to take the time to sit down and teach their children or turn to tuition.
I want to say, for the basic education in primary school, this is not a normal phenomenon that there are a big gap between the students.

Maybe, this family lost the chance to get a place in PH, but earn the money in property. I think now is a good time to sell a house.
                Here copy one news,
Khaw warns of crash in property prices if demand falls
Minister of National Development Khaw Boon Wan sounds an ominous warning to property buyers and speculators in a post on his blog yesterday: think carefully before buying properties now as prices may not continue to increase forever.
Mr Khaw said there is currently 45,000 units which are yet to be built and sold and together with another 8,000 new homes made available from this year’s Government Land sale programme, almost 53,000 new homes would be released into the market in the next few years.
At the same time, global events like the European sovereign debt crisis and Arab world unrest could have a direct and immediate impact on Asia and Singapore.
‘In the event of any external shock, both foreign demand and rental demand can fall quite quickly,’ he wrote.
Mr Khaw also added that bank interests will not stay at such low levels forever and it must go up with time thereby affecting home owners who borrow to finance their property purchases:
‘Some property investors seem either blissfully ignorant of the massive supply that will hit the market from 2013, or under the belief that the impact will affect others and not themselves,’ he said.
He ended his article by warning that a crash in the property market is not impossible given the uncertain domestic and global economic conditions:
‘A market correction or any crash is not a given… But no one is immune to mishaps.’
The prices of properties in Singapore have sky-rocketed in recent years due to the relentless influx of foreigners which helps popped up demand with limited number of HDB flats being built.
Since taking over the housing portfolio, Mr Khaw has asked HDB to release more new units into the market to tackle the dire housing shortage.

I checked MOE website but couldn't see anything stating that this is the case. Is this accurate?

It is not mentioned that rental add within 1km is considered under 1-2km. It is only for grandparents who look after the child staying within 1km who will be put under 1-2km.

As for education, it is obvious that the duty of teaching has been passed on to parents and of course tutors for those who are not able to coach their kids.
