Thanks for valuable tips. Will try out the \"Blanko-ing job\" with son.
What I did was to attempt to do some of the passages in his assessment book myself, in front of him. Then let him do the marking. He sure enjoyed doing so !!!
Then I asked him to refer to the answers and fill in those I got wrong.
We went through together and I explained why some answers are such that 'it has to be that one' and nothing else...for eg phrasal verbs.

I heard this method somewhere here.I scare, If I ask him to do like that then he cannot respect me at all.How you handle this?Please advice me :?:

Someone advised me to try the \"Blanko-ing job' with son...but I'm lazy to do so. So decided to use the passages in cloze assessment instead. In doing so, my weakness may make me lose face but so far :xedfingers: , I'm doing ok...whew !! I will still command respect as his mummy :evil: ...hahaha

IMO, the 'blanko' is the easiest part compared to the mind-map, summary & tell. To me, the real value is per what Mum1113 mentioned, keeping their train thoughts and ours active.
Some kids, read a lot but able to learn new stuff, link and analyse what they read....and these are the really good ones.
Some kids, read a lot but dun seem to absorb much Unfortunately, my kids (me too) belong to the later.....read majiam din read. Guess some kids are just wired to be better while others need guidance (that's why if one can find a good mentor, always helps). So this is where I hope I can help ie. teach them how to 'fish/small-shrimp'.......
Will definitely still make use of some cloze assessments to supplement just in case.

If I am hardworking enough next week (when school reopens), I will try the ‘blanko’ method…esp since son’s school has habit of extracting passages from Straits Times and Readers Digest.

You're welcome Seriously, I have to try see answer first. My son, quite nice as to he won't say 'mummy also dun know'......but that look on his face :sick: it's 'aiyah, no need to ask mummy, think she also dunno'

Just like when he ask me Maths......he doesn't expect me to always know. To DS, daddy is 'Platinum', mommy is 'Gold'.....mommy cannot answer, ask daddy then

Yah, DS P5 this year. Starting to feel nervous as I countdown....but again, think a lot has to depend on the child. IF they dun feel the urgency, there's only so much we can do....... that's why, while aiming for that 'DREAM' school, better source for backup schools
