Yup. Jia you :rahrah:SAHM_TAN:
Started book 1 with DS2 (3.8yo), for him approach is more fun and play. For him, will need to follow the repetitive approach suggested by the author.
buying the books is easy but spending time and effort is tough
i am a FTWM, and time is very limited for me
by the time i reach home and after dinner, i have to go thru his h/w and revision. time left for 四五快读 is not much already
and moreover i got 2 kids to teach :slapshead: (got to get hubby to help out sometimes)
my son sleeps at 8pm bcos he has to wake up at 6.30am the next day for school
nevertheless, i will try my best to persist on this part
even a short 10min everyday is worth it
生孩子容易, 养儿难
DD1 is slightly easier, DS2 need a bit more effort. DD3 (10mos) I will have to make the characters bigger, as suggested by author. I will start DD3 later because I have to re-print bigger cards for her.
I just press on thinking of the $$ that I will save. Now the hard work, later less headache (I hope :xedfingers: ) -

Don't worry. There was a news article about a girl who was bad with Chinese but in P4, I think, started to improve when she read interesting Chinese books and think scored very well in PSLE -

Parents who have started using 四五快读 to teach your children Chinese, can you pls advise?
I started off with book 1 of the series recently. After the kids were asleep, I embarked on reading page 1 of the book that is meant to teach the parents how to use the series. Maybe because my Chinese isn’t good, after half an hour, I only read 3 pages.
So the next night, I skipped the front part and zoomed into the Chinese character cards and started teaching my 3.5yo to read. I didn’t incorporate any of the exercises/games/methods taught in the first part of the book because as mentioned above, I didn’t manage to finish reading that.
Could the more experienced parents advise if my way of teaching ie by only focusing on the Chinese character cards, is ok? I pointed to each word and read them aloud. My gal could remember the first 2 pages of Chinese words that I taught her in 1 night. -
hi sunnygirls,
compare 康氏中文快速识读教程 with 四五快读, which series can help child read Chinese storybooks faster ? -
i didn’t use 四五快读 to teach my girls. So I can’t give you suggestions. Anyway, I think a lot of parents use it, I think it may have its advantage. But I don’t think it’s enough. I think my girls can finish 7 books in their 4 years old. I don’t want my girls stop in their 4 years old level(for reading).
康氏中文快速识读教程 contain 2500 frequency words (是5/6年制小学的总识字量)及8万字的阅读量,which meet China kids Chinese level. For Singapore kids, I think you can use it even for secondary level students. so you can use it for your whole primary school. Even me learn a lot from it. My girls still drag it out to read it for 成语接龙and some 诗歌。Now she is selected to go NYPS for chinese poem competition. Don’t think your kids can’t do it. Actually, each kids in their young age are geniuses. My girls have learnt it very easily and find fun of it. They learn a lot of words with fun. I am so lucky I have used correct books.
I want my girls learn more Chinese culture. Younger sister read P4 text book easily. She almost finish the whole book in 1 hour in her k2 age. I introduce it to this forum because i really want Singapore Chinese standard improve a lot so that my girls can benefit from it. My girls read their harry potter in their 7 years old. They are in the parallel reading rail of English and Chinese. Hope the above can help you. -
The method I used for my girls as follows. Enjoy it!!

Actually, the new version of this set has the time schedule which you can follow it. I have used it randomly that I will read a few 低幼儿歌 and 儿歌经典 to them in their young ages and let them select it which one they like. Then I taught her the piece she selected. Sometimes, I sing it to my girls. They are very easy to understand and sing with me together. Then next time she point it and sing by herself, every words in this 儿歌 is easy to remember. After one month, they composes they songs using the 儿歌. Hahaha…, very interesting.
低幼童话 and 童话选读 are selected classic stories. Very interesting stories, when you read to them. Sometimes louder sometimes soft to attract their attention. They will follow you and next time they will read it by themselves.
儿童对韵 is most my kids like that when they read it, it’s so funny and laughing at the 对韵. In 低幼童话 and 童话选读, there are many funny stories and kids read them and laughing at them. They will drag it and read it to me and laughing from time to time.
A lot of parents told me that 四五快读 is boring. So normally I teach my kids funny things about Chinese. And they eager to know more and get the books out from bookshelves read by themselves.
This set is good because it contains 2500 words China kids must know in their whole primary school.

Hi sunnygirls,
Does the 康氏中文快速识读教程 come with CD?
If not, how to sing the 儿歌?
How old were the girls when they started off with this series?
Did they use 四五快读 before that?
Thanks!
