Do they change timetable for all levels after 6 mths? Wonder what's the reason?

So far since dd year 1 till now, yes, change every 6 months. Not sure the main reason but i guess they have to take in consideration on teaching manpower issues.

Tough opening for defending champs 14 June 11
The Strait Times by Lin Xinyi

BADMINTON fans thinking of turning up only at the weekend to catch the Li-Ning Singapore Open might want to relook their plans.

With nine of the world's top 10 men, and eight of the best women's shuttlers on show, the depth of the 88-strong field in the singles has thrown up big clashes right from the preliminary rounds of the tournament, which take place tomorrow.

For starters, defending men's singles champion Sony Dwi Kuncoro will face 2009 winner Bao Chunlai of China.

Bao is wary of the challenge ahead even though his Indonesian opponent has been struggling to find his best form.

'He's a seasoned player and a strong opponent,' said China's world No. 9. 'Every country has sent its best players, so this competition will be much harder to win than in 2009.'

Women's singles defending champion Saina Nehwal knows she will not be having it easy either at the $200,000 Super Series tournament, which is the biggest tournament since qualification for next year's London Olympics began in May.

Nehwal, India's world No. 4, begins her campaign against Lu Lan in a rematch of last year's semi-finals.

The duo met last week at the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold, where Nehwal needed three games to overcome the former world champion.

There is also a possibility that Nehwal will meet Denmark's two-time All-England champion Tine Baun in Friday's quarter-finals. 'The competition is very tough,' she said. 'But I'm not going to give up so easily. It will be a dream come true to win in Singapore once again.'

Even top seed and world No. 1 Wang Shixian is reluctant to look past the first round.

When asked if she was hopeful of meeting Germany's Juliane Schenk in the quarter-finals to prove herself again after a shock defeat in the Sudirman Cup last month, Wang said: 'I've to focus on doing well in the earlier rounds first.'

But the 21-year-old did concede that her performances at the Sudirman Cup, which China won, was an important learning experience.

'I feel that my mental strength improved a lot after that competition,' she said. 'It has made me more mature. Hopefully, I'll be able to make better adjustments on court in future tournaments.'

Meanwhile, Singapore's badminton stars of the future have been given a boost.

River Valley High School yesterday launched the RV Badminton Academy with the aim of nurturing talented students into elite players.

The academy, which began operations earlier this year, will start accepting non-River Valley High students at the end of next month. It features courses in the history of the game and coaching proficiency, in addition to technical skills.

Under the tutelage of former world champions Lai Caiqin, Yao Fen and Shang Fumei, players will have the chance to embark on exchange programmes at Li-Ning's Badminton Academies in China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

I know some parents have been keen with bicultural programme at RV but information is scarce. Hope that I can fill the gap by sharing a presentation by RV's teachers on the developemnt of bicultural programme in RV at the 2007 Asia Pacific Gifted Education Conference. In it, we can see the conscious infusion of TfU and ASK into the programme as consistent with the school dedication to the TfU framework and development of ASK in its students. The presentation also gives insight of why certain topics (some beyond syllable requirement) are preferred as aligning with TfU framework requires. remember that (read article on TfU I have posted) TfU rpoves that \"generative topics\" are more helpful for students learning and understanding of subject materials. The teachers pay special attention whether students exhibited evidence of ASK (attitude, critical thinking skill and knowdledge construction). Hope this helps. Attached is the presentation.
