BigDevil:
i did ask about it, whether can we go to 2 schools and ballot..but i heard the moe replied one of my friends, said ITS IMPOSSIBLE to join2 schools for balloting. i dont know how they control it , they need original documents for balloting?
The school should be informing you if there is a need to ballot.celinn:
hi,
Balloting will be conducted on Friday, 26 August 2011.<-- means we go to register on 25 august, and 26 august we have to go back to school for balloting result? when and what time we will know the result?
It's probably best to have one spouse attend the balloting, while the other spouse stations him/herself at another school which still have openings. Once the spouse attending balloting finds out that balloting is not successful, call the other spouse to do the registration at the alternate school.
because i thought i can use authorise letter to ask my friend to go to another school to get a 2nd chance.. but heard we cannot join 2 balloting.
if we are at malaysia, how the school informing us about the balloting?
another question, i heard on 25th august, we should go early rather than go there on afternoon, is that true? if we go on afternoon, are the chances same as those parents go on morning ? -
celinn:
If it is a open-to-balloting phase, whether you submit earlier or later does not matter as long as you submit within the registration time period. If it is a 1st-come-1st-serve phase, then submit early will get you a place instead of later.i did ask about it, whether can we go to 2 schools and ballot..but i heard the moe replied one of my friends, said ITS IMPOSSIBLE to join2 schools for balloting. i dont know how they control it , they need original documents for balloting?

then 25th is first come first serve or all balloting?
-
celinn:

25th is registration. no first come first serve.
26th is the firstcome first serve registration for those who failed in the balloting for 25th. -

celinn, i think you are a bit confused.

it is Impossible to join 2 schools for balloting in a same phase is because it is impossible to register at 2 schools during a single phase. registration is via a central system, so if you register at school A already, you cannot go register in school B under the same phase. so no such thing as go to another school to get a second chance for same phase. but if you refer to 2 different phases (eg phase 2c then phase 2c supplementary for second chance when you fail in phase2c balloting; or phase 3 then go 'first-come-first serve' queuing up on 26th aug after you fail in phase 3 balloting), then is possible.
maybe you can call the school to ask about balloting instead of waiting for the sch to call you?
-
i am thinking...for phase 3, as it is not first come first serve registration on the 25th, maybe parents should not register so early in the day. maybe it will be better to wait until after lunch, then call up a few of your shortlisted schools to find out how many applicants have registered and tentative have balloting anot. some schools may be kind enough to say,'hey we have exceeded the number of vacancies and need balloting within 1km, so those residing outside this radius, pls don't waste your precious chance and do go look for other alternative'.
good luck to all!

just throwing out some ideas only.
P1 registration already stressful, first come first serve is even more stressful.
phase 3 not only involve foreigners, it also may involve citizens who failed in phase 2c supplementary but who prefer to try their chance at a preferred backup school under Phase3 - this is a gamble they have to take; to try their luck in a preferred school under Phase 3 (if fail in balloting, stress level will be very high), or approach MOE to post them to school nearest to home (ie cannot choose the schools themselves) before Phase 3 commence.
Taken from MOE website:
Singapore Citizen/Singapore Permanent Resident children who are unsuccessful in obtaining a Primary One place in a school of their choice at the end of Phase 2C Supplementary should approach MOE to post them to a school near their home that still have vacancies.
http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/allocation/
Do also note the balloting criteria for Phase 3
Places will be balloted according to the following order of priority:
a. Children who are Singapore Citizens
b. Children who are Singapore Permanent Residents
c. Children who are not Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
Within each of the above categories, balloting will be conducted if applications exceed the number of vacancies. For categories (a) and (b), balloting will be conducted according to the order of priority based on the home-school distance category for Phases 2A to 2C Supplementary. For category (c), balloting will be conducted regardless of home-school distance.
After the balloting is completed, children who have not been able to obtain a place at their school of choice can go to another school with remaining vacancies to register on a first-come-first-served basis.
Good luck to everyone. -

On 26th itself we know the balloting results and we have to went straight to other choice of school on the same day if balloting results fail. Very stressful. Why falls on the same day?celinn:

25th is registration. no first come first serve.
26th is the firstcome first serve registration for those who failed in the balloting for 25th.
