All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Dear all KS parents,


Can anyone tell me how to draft the PV application for a higher chance of being selected? I’ve run thru some of the schools PV forms and most ask for the same thing…and I suppose many parents would tick yes for library, events and sports day etc…how then do the schools select from the pool of applications which seems to be able to offer the same??haiz…I’m targeting either BPPS or PHPS…as I leave nearby these 2 schools…please advise

Hi, i'm one of the PV from BPPS.
From what i know, they will take in all the PV.
For 2005 batch, there are about 72 PV.
For 2006 batch, u may want to ask Rex as she was a PV now.
R u staying within 1 km from BPPS?

I just got accept as a PV parent. I’d like to ask if moving within 1km of the sch will ensure higher chance/better priorities…Thanks!

I live less than 1km from BPPS. my son is born 2007.
I did call up the school but only take applications next year Jan 2012 - Jun 2012 for 07 kids. such a long wait..
Care to share what was the selection process like and what kind of questions they asked you during interviews? And after accepted, what typical PV programmes are there other than those I've mentioned in my earlier post?? Sorry for the questions, but doing this the 1st time and wanted to do as much research as possible to increase my chances and also to know what I'm getting myself into...cheers.

Check your school past ballot history before you act. That will give you an indication if there is really a need to move to within 1km.

Definitely. Check out the balloting history of the school of your choice to give you an idea how popular the school is will also help you determine if it's a must for you to do so

Thanks for that. Found out from the latest Ph1 analysis. Seems like Ph2B has a 40% chance of ballotingat 1-2km. So does that mean we need to move closer to ensure we are not in this risk? Am I interpreting correctly? Hope experienced KS parents can help :thankyou:

If that being the case, you need to move to within 1km to improve your chance. I won't say that it will ensure you are not in the balloting risk, becos next year within 1km P2B might even have to ballot, who knows?

You improve your chance by being within 1km in case there is ballot or maybe no chance for 1-2km.

As what i say before, they accept all the PV. Have some briefing with the PV and no interview at all. The task will be like excursions, sport day, help out in IT and etc. All will be by email. !st come 1st serve so u must always log in to your email and send it fast. U stand a high chance getting in to BPPS as u stay within 1km. As for PHPS, there is a balloting outside 2km but only few places so u try BPPS better.
