      I have two questions.

      1) What about the people culture of RI vs HCI ?
Someone told me RI culture tend to be like cooperate standard and is more individualistic and and HCI more people-orientated. Hence, schools and students handle matters differently. Any comments?

      2) If one 's P6 Higher chinese score is about 75 and is strong in Math and Science, how can he fit into HCI Chinese standard expectation, any comments ?

1)I cannot comment about RI cos' I have no children there. For HCI, the classmates are competitive but also willing to teach and share with one another. The school encourages the \"gentlemen\" to voice their opinions and are open to all kinds of \"appeals\" by the students. As an IP student, you are expected to do alot more self-study, research and project work. There are mentors and teachers who do guide the students alot, especially in lower sec. There are still a lot from the primary mainstream who needs adjustment and guidance for IP kind of structure and curriculum.

      2) if you intend to do higher chinese in secondary level, the standard will be equally high at RI. The advantage of HCI over RI in Higher Chinese is that, there are other opportunities for you to use and be immerse in the chinese language other than the normal Chinese lessons. This could help them to improve in the language faster. The boys are expected to do compulsory debate / current affairs discussion in both Chinese and English. They are also given both chinese and english newspapers (alternating) to read in the mornings.

OOps ! am already in a dilemme ... :? It sounds very good.

My eldest DD is at HCI yr 3.

        Just want add some thought.
Both schools are good, and have excel in different areas.
It depend on the child inclination.
It does not matter which school he/she attend, he/she need to enjoy the school life.
        Cheers mate

From 1965 - 2010 , RI has never failed to produce President scholars every year ( except in 99,93,90) over a span of 45 years. That itself is a record. Same for SAF and SPF scholarships
I am quite sure RJC didn't produce any president scholar in 2004 also.

It's funny why you choose to demarcate so clearly...almost nitpicking

So how many HCJC president scholars are not from HCI/Chinese High ??? I would bet a huge number was from Ri/RGS, isn't it ? 🆒

You are absolutely correct! many RGS girls use to go to HCJC and indeed many got president scholarship.

I have some comment about this G20 school group. Being in the group is a testament of excellence but not being in the group doesn’t mean the school cannot be equally good or even better. In the school lists, there are no schools from South Korea, Russia, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Netherland, Denmark etc…Don’t tell me that there are no school in these countries that can equal or even exceed the G20 group in excellence.

I agreed with your post. Best not to rely too much on such reputation or top rankings as ultimately is still one's potential, attitude, hardwork, willingness to take risk and favours from superiors/customers that count not academic.

I am sure there are schools in other countries that are as good,

But for Singapore alone, why did the G20 invited RI into the group and not HCI?

The answer is obvious, isn't it ?
