[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

Given that phase 2b ends on 19 July, does MOE also release the balloting school & distance category on the same day?

Previously, the names drawn out were those who were unsuccessful. That was so traumatic for the parents they quickly changed the system. Too much crying as each name was called.
Oh, didn't know it was like this before! Good that they changed the system or we would have been the unsuccessful ones last year! We were the first few to be called.
Been through the saga so can sympathise those that need to go for ballot. Hang in there!
The consolation is Bukit Timah Pri is actually quite a good school so if all else fails, it won't be the end of the world. -

U may want to call the sch for more info after ends of P2B -
Was thinking of stationing myself there towards the end of 2nd day of phase 2b to know the result…anyone does that?

Hi,
Many parents do wait around on Day 2 of Phase 2B to confirm that the school is balloting, and whether the balloting is for those within 1km, 1-2km, or outside 2km.
I believe the MOE announcement of balloting schools will be out the next day (or maybe that very night?). However, the actual balloting day is not immediately after Day 2 of Phase 2B. It's a few days after. You can always ask the school or check MOE website. The balloting day is fixed by MOE so all schools balloting in Phase 2B will ballot on the same day.
Good luck to everyone! :rahrah: :rahrah: We had to ballot for a place for DS last year. I swear I didn't breathe until his name was called ... :nailbite: -
By the look of the results at end of Phase 2A2, the trend now is that even in Phase 2B within 1 km will need balloting. Good luck to all.

Thanks! Ha, I guess I will make a trip down so that I know if I have to ballot. Can't stand the suspense of waiting one more day... -
Bukit Timah primary (BTPS) should be a good school, since it’s absorbing all the overflow cases of P2B and P2C from other good schools.
is there an open house coming for BTPS ? would be great for parents to go down, explore & take a look, talk to P and teachers ?
parents with kids currently studying in BTPS - can feedback what are some of the strengths of BTPS, or anything unique or unusual about this school ? -

Why would taking in the overflow from other schools make Bukit Timah primary a good school? Just because someone applies to a 'good' school doesn't mean that child will be a good student.Bukit Timah primary (BTPS) should be a good school, since it's absorbing all the overflow cases of P2B and P2C from other good schools.

My DD2 just got into PHPPS under Phase 1 :rahrah: I'm spared the ordeal a 2nd time! Just for curiosity, I looked at this year's statistics and indeed it's getting tougher, more so when schools go single session in the future. For eg, DD1 registered in 09 for PH and there was balloting for those who stay 1-2km from the school. And 2003 was supposed to be a lull in birth rates. But it seems that PH's balloting record proved to be steady and thus predictable. Good luck to those aiming for PH!
Looking back, P1 registration is only the beginning: just like scaling Mt. Everest, this phase is only base camp. You still have the mountain to conquer. Now our great challenge is to ensure that our girls do to the best of their abilities. So again, what's a true definition of a 'good school'?
