If this the case, those can't get into school because of this so they have to bear logistics burden to travel out of the school that near them and study at distant school. I have seen many of this happen and is getting worse.
In my own opinion - just my humble view - Singapore is not very big and Jurong West is definitely not too long from JW Ave 1 to JW Street 93..(Still JW anyway 😄 )....so as I mentioned earlier, always have a back-up plan other than your choice of school and try work on the least travelling distance for a P1 kid.

I saw quite a number of Rulang students staying out of 1km from the school and their sibling still can entitled for Phase 1 and those former students taking advantage also while they staying more than 2km , don't you think that something is wrong in our system. I think our Ministry need to look into this matter seriously before matter get worse!

I dun see wat is wrong with sibling in the same sch even if they stay more than 2 km.
Students or former students have all contribute to make wat the sch is today. For eg , student may have participate in fund raising for the sch or getting awards ( sports etc) n cultivate a high standard in a particular CCA which many parents would consider when registering their p1 kids.
        前人种树, 后人乘凉.

        So 前人乘凉 and then 后人遭殃.

Phase 1 is for those whose siblings are still studying in the school. I feel that it is only fair to allow the younger siblings even those even staying > 1km to be be still entitled to this phase to ease logistics problem and have family support, no?

Scenario 1: if say 3 - 4 years ago (at that time you PVed and stay >2km but was lucky in balloting) your elder child entered Rulang. Next year your younger child is going for P1. Would you expect that your P1 will also be entering Rulang or do you think it is fair if the school now has a new rule that says since you are >2km, your younger child has to go elsewhere...

Scenario 2: your P6 child is a great achiever in Rulang and love the school to bits. He has won the school many medals. You managed to get him in by balloting within 1km many years back but due to planning for his secondary school, you have moved elsewhere and stay 1 - 2km away. Your younger child (going P1) wants to follow her brother's footstep. Would you not think it is fair that she gets into Rulang by Phase 1?

I'm not saying everyone falls in this category but I know of some in such case..

          What do you think?

            Dear all,

Sorry have not followed the thread, but could feel that the atmosphere is not so good.
            Wondering what is going on?

I need to get a fast info. about the status of Rulang Primary school.
What is the chance of P2C <1km?

            Many thanks

              Dear hot,

Nolah, atmosphere tense like every year around this time.. all is stressed up and bound to have disappointments around.. But no fighting 😄

Like all other years, P2C sure going for balloting. Although we do not know how many is taking their chances with Phase 2C yet but this year only left with 19 places. All I can say is that it is going to be a tough fight... Must really have back up Plan if wanna try luck..

              Good Luck!! :xedfingers:

since this yr P2B PVs staying > 2km already no chance to ballot at Rulang ... maybe it's high time for next batch of Rulang PVs targeting next yr July registration for 2013 P1 intake, to seriously ponder, reflect and carefully consider .... do you still want to slot so hard PV for Rulang, in the end may get nothing ?

this way, dun waste precious time. Look for another school to PV that is less popular, but still a good school.

there is an article talking about new immigrants' effect on transportation, now need to add effect on P1 registration

Rulang called for a meeting with those PVs who stayed > 2km this morning. Tomorrow is another meeting with another group of PVs. I just came from that meeting. The message is very clear. If you are not within 1 km, you will be unsuccessful at both phase 2B and 2C. It is stressed that the priority is to register for a school within 1 km in phase 2C.

If the number continue to increase each year , will it reach a point where there will be no vacancies by 2A(2)?

What Rulang could do from now is to stop accepting PVs for those living outside 1km.

It is a fair comment. And I believe everyone is monitoring and all is not lost.

Many of us then were aware that to fully reduce the risk, the best is to be stay within 1km to ensure at least have a chance at balloting in worst case scenario. So for those who were thinking of moving nearer to the school, the best is to select your new home at <1km. This is true for any other schools in Singapore.

Anyway, it is too late to apply for PV in other schools.
