Just wondering, like that might as well just have MOE set all the exam papers n teaching material... Then there won't be a popular school prob liao!if very tiring for current P and HODs to run around 2 branches maintain the same standard, perhaps MOE can invite past retired ex P and ex HODs (on pension scheme) to start 2nd branch. Though retired, but these ex staff had many golden years of much valuable, precious teaching experience and knowledge of culture in these schools.
In fact, they are the founders. They are the ones who laid the name down for the school to such high prominence today. They'll know what to do, how to set up, rather than take in fresh Ps or new green horns who had no related experience with these Top Tier 1 hot, popular schools. -
Yes, clone all primary schools in SG to follow Nanyang high standard.
all pupils sit for common exam qns, common tests.
everything all common.
then there wonβt be clamoring of anymore hot, popular school.
all these will become history. -
in fact, will resolve all issues / headache.
for P1 - P6 psle, all pupils to sit for common exams, common tests for all subjects (english, maths, chinese, science) across the board.
no more popular school β¦ becomes history of the past.
no need what phase 1, 2A1, 2A2, 2B, 2C, 3.
no need balloting < 1km, between 1 to 2 km, > 2 km β¦ all these will become history.
children just need to study the nearest school nearby, bec standard tested is going to be the same. Children just walk to nearest school, no need take school bus.
every school in SG to follow Nanyang high standard.
even non-popular schools will get populated.
enough schools to educate all SG kids, PR kids, foreigner kids. -
phtthp:
But... many parents already buy exam papers from popular schools for their kids to work on mah.
all pupils sit for common exam qns, common tests.
everything all common.
Replicate the teaching methodology, maybe. Cos we already 'sit' for the same tests and exams!

Er, then the ex-students will just join the alumni, i guess. No difference to the total number of vacancies taken up actually at the conclusion of the phase. Actually i think it's pointless having 2A1 and 2A2, might as well as combine these two. It will be a lot easier for schools to gauge the potential number of 2A applicants if they can just refer to the alumni list.CayennePepper:
That's why I'm for the phasing out of P2A2, where parents are ex student but did not join alumni. -

It's quite unbelievable you have such idea. What kind of next generation we are shaping? Robots? :roll:Yes, clone all primary schools in SG to follow Nanyang high standard.

everything all common.

I reiterate the whole P1 registration process need a thorough re-look. It has been more than 20 years since it was first introduced. -
in fact, schools should plan 3 yrs ahead in advance.
for better, more proper planning coordination & administration effort to estimate a more reliable figure, we need co-operation from all Phases 1 to 2B, so as to help determine a more realistic number of parent volunteers for acceptance.
3 years ahead before due registration in July 20YY:-
==============================================
a) for Phase 1 siblings - 3 yrs ahead, schools to send out application forms to all parents, indicating clearly whether any sibling(s) from existing current pupils likely to enrol, and enrol for which year 20YY.
b) for Phase 2A - combine all ex alumni (P2A1 and P2A2) members together.
all ex-alumni parents who intend to enrol their child in that particular school, to fill up an application form 3 yrs ahead in advance to alert and notify the school that your child is coming in which year, 20YY.
in each year - all schools to standardize the announcement of a closing date line application of acceptance, to receive back all these incoming ex-alumni application forms for year 20YY.
whether to make it compulsory to make ex-alumni parents pay one time alumni membership fees or not, let the school's alumni committee team decide on this issue.
c) for Phase 2B GRC grassroot leaders, submit ahead 2 yrs in advance to People's Association HQ, indicating the school of choice for yr child.
with reliable figures coming in from sources (a) to (b), schools can receive proper information to work upon. From here, determine how many parent volunteers (PV) can accept realistically for P2B, even if there is a need to cut 1 class. This way, dun turn away any disappointed PV. -
one more thing ... for Phase 1 siblings - on that application form, to indicate if child is SG born citizen or PR kid.
if PR kid, to re-queue AFTER Phase 2C, AFTER all our SG kids had successfully enrolled in.
because if the school accepts 1 PR child, it means 1 SG born citizenship child .... has been denied entry. Not fair to fellow Singaporeans.
we are standing on Singapore soil. Schools must serve the educational needs of ALL SG born citizens first. This is our birth right. -
volcano:
Hi volcano, i intend to put my DD1 in the waitlist if fail in balloting on 22nd July. Thats y i took leave to attend the balloting... :sad:need help.
if 1st choice school failed in phase2B, we need to register for 2nd choice school in 2C right.
If we manage to get into the 2nd choice, can we still wait list in 1st choice school?
thanks.
